Re: Names for baby bunnies
in reply to a message by Ninor
I went for Greek Mythology... the names are just cooler, and also a tiny bit because HP isn't my thing anymore and I have this insane hatred of place-names on people / animals, so that's not going to get my vote either :P
I do kind of love the idea of an adorable little bunny with a rediculously grand name, you know, Prometheus or something. There are quite a few very useable Greek mythology names - Pandora, Hektor, Iris, Daphne etc - but I'd be tempted to go for the rediculous and have an assortment of bunnies named Prometheus, Ptolemy, Aristodemos, Nausicaa, Zeus etc. But that's just me and I'm a weirdo. Dammit, mythological names are just cool. And anyway, if you wanted to name one of them Hermione, you still could do so and fit with your theme ;PThe problem is that lots of the names are decidedly masculine or feminine, and so you could easily end up with a female Zeus. That said, I know loads of people who have accidentally given boy dogs girl names or adopted a female cat the owner thought was a boy and so forth, and they've either renamed them or stuck with it cos it worked in a weird way. My friend's cat was originally owned by an old lady who though she was a boy and named her Jack or something, so when they got her and found out she was a girl they renamed her Lottie. No problems. It's not really as problematic as giving a person a name which turns out to be wrong. With an animal, as long as you can remember that you've changed it and what you've changed it to, you can probably get away with changing it, I guess.
