I really, really dislike the sound. I don't think the "carol-uh" pronunciation would be the natural pronunciation for many people, though that depends on where in the world you are.
I do like Carrie. What about just Caroline? Carolina (kah-ro-LEE-nah)? Though Carolina may get the North/South Carolina pronunciation.
