I think Guy a handsome name and not equivalent to naming a daughter "Gal", as it has a nice history of use as a name. I like the long "i" sound; the "ee" pronunciation doesn't draw me. I knew and a Guy who was a contractor/builder. He had a cowboy quality about him and kept and rode horses, was very handy, self-sufficient, while his speech and manner were quite refined; very intelligent, thoughtful and considered, wry wit. He loved music, art, antiques. I liked the name prior to knowing him, but he definitely increased my appreciation of it.

I think it is okay. I like it better as a middle name though.

I've loved the name Guy for quite a while. I was delighted this semester to have a history teacher named Guy this semester. He pronounces both ways guy or ghee because he has French parents but is an American. I don't even think of the word guy honestly but I'm sure most people do.

Gal is a name! Probably not one that gets much use in the US though. Not sure Guy would work there either, but I like it a lot - tons of history and a knightly feel to it. I've known a few of them, it's not very unusual in the UK.

I've always really liked it. Not at all like naming a daughter Gal. Unless you pronounced it like "guy," I guess. But it's ghee.

I like it in theory, especially because of the Robin Hood associations. But I think it would be difficult to use in an English-speaking area now, because people would assume you were naming your kid the equivalent of "bro" or "dude."

Where I live(French-speaking)Guy is a common name, both by itself, and as a combined name, usually Jean-Guy.
I've known a few English speakers use it, though.

I would never use Guy, it is too much of a word for me to ever consider it. The sound of it is nice, but it is also a little short for my tastes, yet I can never get over the fact that it is a word to me first not a name. I have known people named Guy and it has never changed my feelings about it being more of a word than a name.

I really like it... I used to be fascinated with it, ever since I saw it in a Robin Hood book. It's definitely a real name, with lots of history. With a solidly masculine "real" middle name, I think it would work really well (Guy Roderick, Guy William, Guy Alexander, Guy Magnus, etc.)

The french pronunciation (gee) is much nicer to my ears. Guy in the English speaking world is not attractive.

Well, it is a real name, it's got a lot of history behind it. But yeah, it doesn't really sound like much of a name. Just some guy, you know?

I met a Guy when I was really young, I'll always remember him because I was about 5/6 and he was 7 and I thought he was really cool (his name was a part of this). I met another a year or so ago, he's gay so usually goes by the nickname of Gay Guy which us immature teenagers find really funny for no apparent reason.
Despite meeting people who this name and them leading what I think are pretty normal lives, I still wouldn't use it myself. However I'd prefer to meet a third Guy than a hundreth "-ayden" :)

NoWell, it's not like naming a girl Gal, not by a long shot. But it's still... bad.
