Re: Bird Names
I consider these male:
Peregrine
Jay
Hawk- I mainly see it as a surname though
Merlin- I see the wizard before I see a bird though.I consider these female:
Kestrel- It's intriguing.
Sparrow
Raven- I like Raven and also Ravenna.
Halcyon
Wren- Especially like it as a middle name.
Nightingale- Very GP.
Dove
Swan- I can't really see this working as a first name. Maybe a middle.
Hummingbird- this is really a nickname though, I couldn't take it seriously as a first name
Magpie- another nickname
Chickadee- nicknameI consider these unisex:
Lark- I prefer it for a girl but can see it on a boy. I've been liking it lately.
Starling- It's really a surname to meI don't consider these names/would not use them:
Crow- A surname
Cardinal
Falcon- I can almost see it as a name
Eagle, Heron, Lovebird, Parakeet, Parrot, Toucan, Turkey, Vulture, Kingfisher, Warbler, Goose, Penguin, Duck, Pigeon- all too literal or unappealing in sound
Gyrfalcon- Looks like a combo of Griffin and Falcon. Not digging it.
Swallow- Also a verb, so a no-go. Another one I like that you didn't mention is Mavis. Digging that one lately. I also like Linnet.
