Re: August
in reply to a message by Laura
I really like August for a girl or a boy, it is equally masculine and feminine to me. Augustine though seems completely feminine to me. The first August and the only Augustine I've ever met were both girls, Augustine went by Auggie. August when by August and a nn that didn't arise from her name.I used to dislike Auggie but after a while I've come to really like Augie as a nn for a girl or a boy. I like Gus too but only for a boy. It took me a while to get used to both those nn's and after making a couple positive associations I really like both Auggie / Augie and Gus.Guster could work as a nn or Gusie. If August has a mn that starts with a complimentary letter he could go by AJ or AZ or any other Asomething combo that you think sounds good but AJ is the traditional one. If his mn starts with L you could call him Al. A female August could have the nn Peridot or Summer or whichever season august is where you live.I can't think of any other nn's sorry. August is a hard one to come up with nn's for if you don't like Augie or Gus. You could just not use any nn's or come up with one that suits him but is not name related. If someones family members are intent on giving them a nn they will eventually have one even if it is an incidentally conceived nn.
