I've always loved the name Louisa
! I love the sound of it and the fact that it's different without being unheard of. I like the nns Lou
, or even Lucy
(though maybe that's too much of a stretch?) I grew up with a wonderful neighbourhood mom named Louise
, so I'm partial to that name too, but don't like the "weez" pronounciation sometimes associated with it (though she and her family always used the "ise" sound).
Also in my Spanish classes in school growing up I always took the name Luisa
cause it was more exciting than the Spanish pronounciation of Laura
and loved responding to "Luisa
" in class. I would definitely give Louisa
as a first name to a daughter one day and it's been in my top 3 fave girls names for years. Very happy to see other people are starting to appreciate these names as well!
