Miriam Cecilia Mae
Thoughts? I love the sound of Miriam Cecilia and I also love how it combines my love of old testament names and my husband's love of Catholic names. However I promised my grandmother-in-law that I would name my first daughter after her. She was quite pleased and I want to keep that promise. We're thinking of using a double middle name, something I've never thought about. This would be the only child we do this for, although it is likely that we will only have one. Thoughts? The geek on me also likes that MCM is the Roman numeral 1900. Very appropriate for the child of two geeks who love the literature of that century.

Personally I love this combo. It looks good, sounds good, and it seems like the best way for both of you to each use names that you love and honor your husband's grandmother. Plus it has the cherry-on-top of MCM being the Roman numeral 1900.Personally I don't feel that Mae seems tacked on because I actually like the sound of there being a change in the flow of the name, it goes three syllables, four syllables, one syllable, and then however many syllables your last name is but I don't think that is a bad flow to a name. I like the sound of the flow of this combo no more and no less than if Mae was between Miriam and Cecilia, yes it would then go three, one, four, your surname which is more evened out but I like the surge and dip of sound that happens with a less uniform combo. Some people say they prefer Miriam Cecily Mae because it is less of a mouth full probably because Cecily is only three syllables not four. Personally I like Miriam Cecily Mae and Miriam Cecilia Mae equally, but I think that your husband probably likes Cecilia not Cecily so I think you should go with whatever name that he likes. I think it is important that since this might be the only child that you two will have that you both get to use a name that you love and of course honor grandma Mae, so I think using two middle names is a great solution. Also I feel that Mae doesn't seem like a filler when there is another mn to go with it, Mae on it's own as a mn is fairly boring and seems like filler but something else with Mae spices things up while still having that nice short one syllable sound of Mae in the middle. So in conclusion I love this combo, and I know that whatever combo you two choose will be great whether it is this one or something else.

I love it! I think it's beautiful and the Mae does sound good (although Miriam Cecilia is very nice anyway).

I really like Miriam and Mae. Cecilia is too frilly sounding for me and isn't a name that I have been able to warm up to fully, but Miriam Cecilia Mae flows nicely. It's a good combo.

I think Miriam Cecily Mae has nicer flow? Miriam Cecilia Mae is a little heavy. It's still nice, but the old-fashioned weight of Miriam plus the elborate gilded flourish of Cecilia makes the combo really top-heavy with Mae seemingly tacked on the end.Something like Miriam Cecily Mae or Mary Cecilia Mae helps sort of balance things out. Just, in my opinion.MCM is a badass set of initials for sure!

Miriam Cecilia is gorgeous. I love Mae, I think it's so cute, and I don't even mind it as a middle name despite it being fillerish. But it sounds kinda tacked on at the end of Miriam Cecilia. Still, I think it stops Miriam Cecilia being too stuffy, so that evens it out.BUT can I just say I'm very jealous you get to use Miriam (well, on the right sex)! I'd love a little Miriam. Mimi Mae. Awwwwwwww cute overload.

Have you considered Miriam Mae Cecilia? Mae doesn't feel as "tacked on" that way. Either way, I think the three names go well together.

I love Miriam and Mae, but I'm personally not so keen on Cecilia. The combo does work nicely though.

The Mae feels like it's been tacked on the end as a total afterthought. The story behind it is very sweet, but I just don't care for it here. Miriam Cecilia is quite nice, if a bit of a mouthful.

You put it much better than I did.

It's perfect. Whether you called her Miriam, Mim, Mimi, etc., I like how each is relatively uncommon. Mae on the end is short enough so the entire combo won't feel weighty, imo.

They could call her Mae, too. That would be cool.

I wish we could. My grandmother made us swear to use it as a middle name. Mae Cecilia is really cool.

But even if you use it as a middle name, you could call her that on occasion.

It's great. I especially love Miriam :)

Personally, I prefer the sound of Miriam Cecilia without the Mae. However, it doesn't sound so bad WITH the Mae, so if you like it, use it. It's a decent name.

I think Miriam Cecilia Mae sounds lovely. I slightly prefer Cecilia to Miriam and therefore would probably prefer the order Cecilia Miriam Mae, however I appreciate the sentiment behind each name and think that it is a beautiful, elegant combo. :)

I love it :) It sounds like a perfect compromise name for the two of you! Each name is great individually, they have a good vibe when put together, and you have the honouring thing going on- win win. And as far as second mns go, Mae is short and sweet. The date thing is neat too.

A lot will depend on the ln! Miriam Cecilia Mae Smith has a very different flow compared to Miriam Cecilia Mae Robertson-Smith; not necessarily better or worse, but certainly different. In some circumstances, Miriam Cecily Mae could sound better.I love the initials forming a date - well done!

Absolutely fabulous!
A stunning choice.
Miriam is so underused, and has such a beautiful sound, and this is a wonderful combo.
