I know somebody with a granddaughter named Maren...
And they say it like Karen or Sharon with an m. Which also sounds pretentious to me but not like if it was pronounced like Sophia Loren's last name. More like a fantasy-YA version of Mary.

Hmm...if it's pronounced like Karen or Sharon with an M, then it kind of reminds me of bone marrow. :/Either way, I'm just not digging it. It's okay , but it's a nothing name. It just sits there.

it's just spineless...I've noticed that about a lot of Mary variations. They just seem so weak and watery. Molly, Minnie, Miriam, marian to some extent, Maureen, Marilyn, Maren. About the only Mary variations I can think of offhand that dont' strike me as weak are Maria and Marina.

I like all of those names EXCEPT for Maria and Maren. Our opinions, they differ.
