Central Illinois names
On our vacation, we visited my stepson Jim, his wife Angela, and their kids Nathan and Elizabeth.Next door live Gretchen, about age 14, and her sister Emma, age 9. I thought Gretchen was a bit unexpected as a sister to Emma. Anyway, Gretchen was confirmed at the church my stepson and his family attend. Here are the names of the other kids who were confirmed. They all are about age 14.Alexis Baine

Ugh. Gretchen is like curdled dairy in my mouth. lolAlexis Baine: I like Alexis but I used to love it. Now I'm preferring Alexandra and Alexandria.Caroline Ann: They kind of run together. I'm not a fan of Caroline or Ann.Caylie Renee: Caylie is a weird spelling. I quite like the sound of it but it's not real and lacks creativity. Renee is nice.Emily Ann: Blah. White bread stuck to a beige wall.Gretchen Elizabeth: I like Elizabeth.Haleigh Marie: I used to like Haylie when I was little. Not so much anymore... especially not this spelling. Marie is filler. Hannah Kathryn: Hannah is a spoiled rich girl's name. I prefer Katherine.Lauren Alexandra: Love Alexandra. Lauren may as well be Hannah's twin.Makenna Gail: The oldest Makenna I know is in her 30s so I know it isn't really *new* new but it still has that sour trendy taste. Gail is fine, in a middle aged news anchor sort of way.Natalie Erin: Love Natalie. Erin's eh. Together they're mushy.

Well, first, they are all, with exception of Nora, Alfredo, and maybe Gretchen, very very predictable as the names of fourteen-year-olds. People really don't step outside the box, do they? That aside, though, I will give my opinions. I'll refrain from saying things such as "I like this but would never use it due to popularity" and "It's not that I don't like this, it's just that I'm sick of hearing it", but you can assume that this is true of some of these names. But popularity doesn't cause me to actually dislike a name, so I am capable of giving an opinion without taking into consideration the popularity level.Alexis Baine -- I don't find Alexis feminine enough. I assume that Baine is a family name, if so, okay.Caroline Ann -- Caroline is a nice and sweet classic. Ann is a boring filler middle name and doesn't even flow that well with Caroline.Caylie Renee -- I hate Caylie. What is it but made-up turn-of-the-millenium crap? Renee is whatever.Emily Ann -- Emily is a nice sweet honest name. But again with the filler Ann. At least you could add an E to it.Gretchen Elizabeth -- People love to hate on Gretchen, but I find it has some charm to it. Elizabeth is somewhat fillerish as a middle name.Haleigh Marie -- Hayley is rather pretty, but I hate when people change the spellings of girls names to include the letters "eigh". Just don't, it looks dumb. Marie is very fillerish.
