Re: Not using names due to popularity?
I'm currently dealing with this issue, as we think of names for our baby boy. There are a few names we really like or love, but they are popular, which puts me off. Sometimes I think I should just get over it and if we love a name we should just use it, but then the "name nerd" in me wants a name that isn't super popular! Naming can be a hard task! Sarah -

Good luck! I had girl #2, Cecily Winifred, on 2nd April this year. I had so much trouble in naming her! It's so difficult to find that balance; to be unusual without raising eyebrows. It was pretty easy naming my first, Frances Violet, because I always knew I would use Frances to honour the many Franceses/Francises in my family, and Violet is a name I've always loved. But it was so tricky with Cecily. It's also hard trying to find a name that fits with your other child's name! I love Jasper Emmanuel! What a stunning name. He must be almost the same age as Frances! :) I'd love to hear any name ideas you have for baby #2! Xx

Thanks, similar story here. Jasper was the name I wanted to name my DS since I was about 15 or 16 years old and DH chose Emmanuel, which we both love. It is hard to find a name that sounds good with my DS's name, but is also slightly unusual but not unheard of. We might have to wait this time around and meet our little man and then name him! Names that DH and I have discussed and some we are considering would be:Oscar - Really popular here though and also has a similar sound to Jasper.
Max - Super popular and his cousins already have a Max cousin, which puts me off. We love it because of the show "Get Smart" and the meaning.
Sam - Would be just Sam, but also quite popular here.
Harry - We like this name a lot, but again, it's very popular.
Jethro - I like this more than DH does, but it works so well with the mn we would love to use. We don't know that we want another J name though.
Jed - Again, great meaning, but it's a J name.
Gabriel - Love the meaning, love the sound, but I have an aunt and cousins whose surname is Gabriel.
Felix - We love the sound of this name, the meaning is good, but the Biblical reference puts us off.
Seth - A name both DH and I have been fond of for years.
Asher - Love the meaning, but similar sound to Jasper again.
Ari - I think this name is gorgeous, but DH may need more convincing on this one.
Barnaby - We both like it a lot, but I don't think we can imagine having a DS named Barnaby!

Lovely names! :)We have very similar taste! I like all the names on your list, but my favourites are Gabriel, Felix, Rex, Moses and Jonah. I think Jasper and Jonah makes an adorable sibset, regardless of the double J; I know a family with an M surname who gave all 3 of their kids M names!A few combos I like:Jonah Jeremiah
Gabriel Asher
Felix Taj
Rex Moses
Rex Jethro
Moses Barnaby
Jonah Seth
Jonah Isaac
Jonah Gabrielxx
