LA or AL
Okay, so Im debating... I really love my great grandmothers name. She was Lorraine Alice.
My top girls name right now is Alice Lorraine. Which one do you prefer? And why? They both mean ALOT to me, so any one would do. Lorraine Alice "Raine"
Alice Lorraine (no nickname)

ALAlice Lorraine feels a lot fresher, and I like the reversal :)

Lorraine Alice, but it's just personal preference. Alice has never appealed to me, but I love Lorraine. I picture a sloe-eyed and smokey-voiced starlet from the 30s or 40s.Really, they're both good, meaningful combos. You couldn't go wrong with either one, so you could just wait until you have a daughter and go with the name that feels right.

Alice Lorraine, definitely. Lorraine has kind of a brassy vibe to it, to me. Plus, I don't like Raine. On the other hand, Alice has it all. It is beautifully streamlined, classic and soft but sturdy.

Definitely Alice Lorraine.

I actually think using your great grandmother's name turned around is really sweet. Meaningful, but also almost more special than just straight honouring for some reason. If I were you, I'd pick the first name you like more and choose that way.

Alice Lorraine. I don't like Lorraine and dislike more the nickname Raine for it. Alice is beautiful and sweet and strong.

Since you like both, and both are good, I think the only way to decide is to forget the whole flow concept and instead go with first name/last name. Which first name sounds best with whatever will be the last name for this daughter? Or, picture her as a teenager. Does it feel more natural to call out "Alice" or "Lorraine"?

Though they both sound good, I'm going to have to go with Lorraine Alice, minus the nickname.

I like Alice Lorraine better. It flows better in my opinion, but either way, both ways are really pretty.

Much prefer Alice Lorraine, I'm afraid I find Lorraine dated as a FN.

Alice is a beautiful and timeless, Lorraine is more dated too one time period, and I don't find the sound as appealing. So Alice Lorraine.

Alice Lorraine is very pretty with a pleasing flow. Lorraine Alice is less appealing to me.

Alice Lorraine flows better IMO, and Alice isn't dated whereas Lorraine certainly is.

Alice Lorraine! because a) I think it flows better and b) Alice is much prettier and timeless than Lorraine. Lorraine is a bit dated.

I prefer Alice Lorraine because I like the name Alice more, and Lorraine is dated. In addition, despite choosing Raine as a nickname, so many people (maybe even herself as she ages) will want to call her Lori or Lorrie and I don't like that nickname.

I much prefer Alice Lorraine, as I don't personally like the name Lorraine. I also think it would be really "dated" on a little girl these days, whereas Alice would be lovely. You would still be honouring your great grandmother by using both names, but switching them would give your DD her own name too, which is nice.

I prefer ALice Lorraine. I think it looks better written down, I can't even explain why.

I think Alice Lorraine has an easier flow but I really like Lorraine with the nn Raine. So, best case scenario, Alice Lorraine with nn Raine.

Alice Lorraine. It's sounds really lovely, I think.Lorraine Alice, I don't think flows so well.
Unless you pronounce it luh-RAIN a-LEES (sounds like fleece) instead of A-lis. But even then, I still prefer Alice Lorraine.Alice is really pretty, timeless but not overused, and if she does want a nickname there's always Ali which I've liked for years ^_^
