Beatrix...yay or no way
I would like your thoughts on the name Beatrix. There is somewhat of a revival of "older" names going on and this one has caught my eye.
Would Beatrice be better? Does the X look too strange? Does it sound awful/pretty?
Any and all comments welcome. Thanks in advance!

I like both Beatrix and Beatrice. Right now I prefer Beatrice. They give me very different impressions. Beatrice is a bit buttoned-up and prim, and Beatrix is her spunkier cousin. I wouldn't describe Beatrix as pretty, but it's fun. And you have the option of Bea or Trixie as a nickname, so she can be a bit more understated or embrace the quirkier side of her name depending on who she is as a person.
I think Beatrix is fusty and old enough to come flying out of the other side and to deserve a revival. It's almost come full circle.
And I like it quite a bit. The -x ending is really interesting, but the name itself it's completely insane or exotic. It's not fresh, considering the influx of old-and-new-again names, but it is due it's time in the sun. Fun fact, I used to have a sci-fi character named Bix/Trix. She was insane in the membrane and so much fun.
To my mind, Beatrix is younger, more fun, more dynamic and, yes, more fun to the ear, than Beatrice (I like Beatrice too).

My daughter is Beatrice, as was my mother. It was also my grandmother's middle name, so it's the version I'm used to. Beatrix makes me think of Dutch royalty - and the Dutch are more inclined to use Latin forms than we are, like Jacobus and Antonius, though they also go the other way and use a nn form as the full name.
My daughter is glad she wasn't Beatrix because she doesn't like the nn Trixie. She uses Bea or the full form.

Yay!
I really like it.. I'm a big fan of many names with the letter 'x' though.

I really like Beatrix, and think it is pretty. Beatrice is not better, just different. The X does not look strange. The Beatrix spelling makes me think of Queen Beatrix and Beatrix Potter (both pleasant associations).
Yes, Beatrice would be better, though it's not much of an improvement to me. The x ending just looks pretentious and trying too hard to be classic.
