Nay Never liked Harrison. Harry is sweet but not Harrison.

I like it, a lot. But then I tend to find myself liking surnamey names anyways- I love Jackson, Carter, Parker, etc for boys. The only drawback on Harrison is that I absolutely hate the name Harry!
( I really like the name Garrison, which is almost exactly the same name, but couldn't stand the thought of my son being nicknamed Gary...**shudder**)

I love Harrison. I love surnames or names that have a surnamey feel on boys.

I've been closely associated with a family whose surname is Harrison all my life, so to me it is extremely surnamey and unusable even if I did like it a lot as a first name. I think it's just okay. It's almost Jackson-level surnamey. But it doesn't have all that (annoying IMO) sporty / souly / Cash & Cartery baggage that Jackson has. The only baggage on Harrison is from the whiteness and brooding of Harrison Ford, and also that it's vaguely presidential. Oh yeah, and then there is George. Harrison isn't at all like Lennon, though.

I don't hate it, but don't like it either. It sounds too trendy and wannabe cool.

It's one of the few -son names I like, actually. I'm not really sure why, though- Harry isn't all that appealing, so I wouldn't shorten it.

I knew a Harris once, and I thought it was just about OK - he was never called Harry, which might have been better. But Harrison, regardless of Mr Ford, just doesn't do it for me - it goes on for too long after the Harry bit, and I don't even like Harry much.

I say nay ...While I like Harry well enough, especially on an older guy, Harrison seems fussy and stuffy. Harrison Ford should modify that feeling, but he never has.

It's my son's middle name, so I obviously love it. I've always felt it's a strong, handsome name.

I like it. :)

EEEEE NOOOOOO!!!! This is such a douche name. I've known so many douchey Harrisons. And even if I hadn't, I'd still hate it. ETA: An old schoolmate of mine has sons Jackson and Harrison. I think it's overkill.

It's not something I would use personally but it's a nice enough name. Handsome sounding, one of the better surname as firstname names really

Nay.I think it sounds oldish, and ugly. And the only person I can think of is Harrison Ford.
However, I do like the idea of a Harry/Henry using Harrison for his son. I'm not a big fan of naming children after their parents, but I like this idea. And I like the idea of William having a son named Wilson etc.

Harrison is a very popular name where I am (UK), I'm a teacher so I meet a fair few of them. IME, it's never shortened to Harry, ever, but that may be down to the fact that Harry as a given name is also very popular around here.

I'm beginning to dislike it because of its popularity, which is sad cos it's not a bad name. So I guess it depends on whether it's popular where you are and whether you mind. What about Harry as a full name?

I can't decide if you like it or not either LOL. But personally I like it. I've only met one Harrison, he'd now be about seven or eight years old, he made me find the name more realistic and not too surname-y.

I do like the sound of Harrison but hate the nn of Harry. If my kids name was Harrison, I would be fighting people left and right not to call him Harry. I think Harrison nn Sonny would be cute though.

Not sure. I kind of like it, but I'd never actually consider using it. I can't see it on a child. And I don't like the unavoidable nn Harry.

I like it in theory. I don't know about practice because I've not known anything but characters and celebs with the name. It was a character name on Dexter and it worked for him and it totally works for Harrison Ford. However, I'm not sure I like the nn Harry.
