With a name like Andrew I would have been more inclined to give her the middle name Andrea or Drew as a way on honouring. Most names can be got around like that, my dad was Keith, which you can't really get around, but his middle name was Andrew and so to honour I would probably use the middle name Drew (on either a girl or a boy).
I hate to say it; but it's probably a lot more acceptable than doing it the other way round, e.g. giving a son the middle name Ann after his mother. Which is a shame, I think.
