Eliza
Liking the name Eliza has just snuck up on me recently. I heard a colleague talking about a family member named Eliza and boom it hit me, I love Eliza. Thoughts please? :) ~ Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry ~

This has been my favorite girl's name for a long time. I love the long "i" sound, the little zing you get from the Z; the old-fashioned associations that come to mind; and the fact that it's attached to such a traditional name like Elizabeth, but unique in its own nickname realm. Its popularity is climbing steadily and surely. For me, I think part of the appeal of the name was always that I never knew an Eliza (I do know a "Liza" age 12). If I met some young Eliza I'd probably be less likely to use it, but popularity can't take away its charm!

I have always loved Eliza. It's so spunky and fun, yet a perfectly respectable name. I don't think I've ever met one. It definitely spices up so-overused-it's-boring Elizabeth.

Fine as a nn for Elizabeth; otherwise nope.

I like it a lot. It's a shame by all time favourite boys' name is Elijah. I think Eliza is classy and yet spunky =)

Eliza is such a pretty name, I also love it. To me it's timeless and beautiful and will also age well.

I'm no fan of Elizabeth and Eliza is worse. It's currently trendy and sounds kind of yuppie, but at the same time it's always struck me as a servant's name.

Trendy?? You're breaking my heart, Roxstar.

Not trendy in just numbers; I think it's going to be one of those filter-down-from-the-elite kind of names, like Lucy and Emma. It just carries such a strong vibe of horses and nannies and "nurseries" not in the sense of a baby's bedroom.

I love Eliza too! And I love all the nicknames:
Eli (on a girl? swoon)
Liza
Zaza
Liz

I find the sound a little abrasive, but I also don't think it's trendy. I mean, sure, strong vowels and old-fashioned names for girls are trendy right now, but 'Eliza' itself still stands out.
