Re: What would you suggest?
I like Pie's suggestions of obscure gods/goddesses and plants and things like that. Is this person truly seeking something "unique" or is that just using the word incorrectly? (I had a friend who wanted something "unique" and I gave her a buttload of suggestions and she replied "I like Cheyenne Grace!" uggh. She ended up going with Adriel, which is pretty unusual for a girl but she might end up meeting a boy with her name someday). I'd also go through the SSA lists, looking at names that were used less than 30 times or so. That's not truly "unique" but it's highly uncommon. For my friend, I also hit up ancestry.com because she also asked for something "victorian" (you can do what I did even without an account-- just do a search for a random surname and go through the results).

No, they definitely want something obscure. Something that their kid won't have to share with any other classmates (this is a big concern for them - they don't want there to be more than one on a class list) and without strong associations. Like for example I suggested Ebenezer and Wednesday (they are kind of gothy people) and those were too familiar for them. I think they might go for mythological names, but I doubt they'd be into the more familiar "big names" (like Artemis, Thor, etc).

I have a character named Libitina. Perfect for gothy people too.Using the SSA lists– very unlikely their kid would share a name with anyone in their class. Maybe not even their state. Sapphira
