My husband and I both like Daniel. But there are two reasons we wouldn't use it:
1. It's the name of my husband's sister's live-in boyfriend / father of her child. I really don't know what to call him. They aren't engaged, and she doesn't call him her boyfriend or partner, just his name. Anyway, we wouldn't use the name because of that connection.
2. Danny Boy is my son's favorite lullaby song, and I think he is already feeling displaced with the new baby, so would especially dislike a Daniel / Danny.

I like Ian and William alright for others, but not myself, especially with the N and M ending. Donald is a family name and we've considered it, but I just don't really like it. Donald itself isn't bad but I don't care for Don or Donny. Kind of odd since Dan and Danny don't bother me.
