Cousin announced name for her child due in September...WDYT?
My cousin is due in September with her first child, a boy. Yesterday I attended the baby shower where the finalized name was announced: Emerson Cade W.
Parents are Jordan and Colton, and Colton has a 7 year old from a previous relationship and his name is Ian.I don't care for Emerson, but I am glad to see it used on a boy. I get tongue twisted when I try to say "Ian and Emerson" though. I don't like 'Cade' at all. What do you think?

As long as it doesn't shorten to Em or Emmie, it's not too bad. I think it clashes with Ian - they seem to come from very different naming traditions. Perhaps Colton lets his wives dominate him! Cade is just plain dreadful, and I'm glad it's decently concealed in the mn position.

Cool! I have a son named Emerson Kai, which is not that far off from Emerson Cade. Frankly, I think mine flows a little better :) but Emerson Cade is nice too.

I like Cade but not Emerson...

Not my style, but I agree that it's good to see it used for a boy. Never understood it's appeal on a girl (but then, I don't for most of the last-names-as-first).

I love it, and I'm so relieved to see it on a boy, hurrah for them!

I don't like Emerson either, which is odd because usually I'm quite fond of "son" names.
Cade on the other hand I really like, but I prefer Kade.Ian and Emerson make an odd sibset.

I love Cade. I'm happy to see it used as a middle name, but I'd be happier to see Cade Emerson rather than Emerson Cade. I don't care for Emerson as a first name. If it's a family name, I can see using it a middle name, but I'd still avoid it as a first name. Do you think there's any chance he'll be called Emmy? I'd hate Emerson for a girl, also, but at least there'd be the chance of that feminine nickname. It's not a chance I'd want to take with a boy.So yeah, big thumbs down on Emerson, big thumbs up for Cade.I must say Colton is the eye-rollingest name of all time.

In our experience with our (boy) Emerson, only one person has called him Emmy and we just asked them not to. Our Emerson gets shortened to Emers a lot. Or Emer ("emmer") or Em or Ems. I thought we might use Sonny, but we haven't.
