I hate Sophia. Absolutely hate it. It has such a smug, vapid feel to me. Ugh. I just envision parents congratulating themselves on choosing a name so sophisticated and intelligent.
My mother is baffled by Isabel etc. having a popular resurgence. To her it's one of those irretrievable "old lady" names. I don't as much as hate it, but -bel and -belle names are generally not my cup of tea.
