I have an amazing aunt named Irene, so I have a positive association. I think Irene would be cool on a baby, but I doubt it'll ever come back.

Love it. I have relatives named Irena and Irini, so I seriously considered this version. I think it is super classy, and has a lot of positive history (plus, Irene Adler... Sherlock Holmes).
Plus, if a girl felt her name was outdated when she got older... she could revert to Reenie.

I want to like Irene. I really do. I think it has great potential for revival. It's scrappy and classy at the same time, which I enjoy in a name. It's a bit flat to keep me interested for very long, but I admire its energy. I also like Eirene (in fact I think I might prefer that spelling) and Irina, which I find vastly more beautiful than Irene.

Irene is not on my list but i always smile whenever i hear it. maybe it hasn't grown that much on me because i hate the Italian/Spanish pronunciation. anyway, i just checked and it also has a beautiful meaning so kudos for that

I'm of the generation that when I was young, middle-aged and old ladies were named Irene. So it's taken me a while to take it seriously. Now I do and I really like it. It's classic and pretty and its initial letter makes it look crisp and clear.
