Names for a Basset Hound puppy (Update!)
So I might be getting a Basset Hound puppy. Not sure whether I'd pick a male or a female puppy. I need some help thinking up possible names. My cat's name is Bandit if that helps at all. You can try to be matchy if you want but please no Smokey. XD Oh, and I'm not a huge fan of people names on pets, but if you think of a really good one you want to share, then feel free! Update: Thanks all for your suggestions! I've decided to name her Lucy but call her Lu Lu most of the time. :D __________________________

Turbo. A friend just gave this name to his puppy, and I really dig it.

I used to know a Basset named Tumbleweed. And I knew two beautiful ones who belonged to a family that gave their pets acronym names - one was Saica for the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (both owners belonged to it) but I forget the other. It's a good system.

Aww, Tumbleweed is adorable. That acronym naming system is really creative. :)

How about Baguette? They're shaped kind of like one, and I heard of a dachshund being called that.Pepper, Frito, Cheeto, Snoopy, Buford, Jolene, Charlie, Sloppy Joe ...

My sister has a basset hound (a red and white) named Ruby. It fits her well.Someone misheard her name and thought it was Droopy so maybe that would be an option too. And we're always joking that she's "skinny" (because she has so much extra skin) so maybe Skinny would be another cute one.And I think animal names that use a title are funny too, like Captain Skinny or General Zanzibar. Good luck with getting a puppy - bassets are so much fun!

Oh my gosh, yes, I love names that begin with a title. Those are so much fun. General Zanzibar is hilarious. I'd probably make it something ridiculous like Lord Droopington III. XD

My basset is called Maddie. I wanted to call her Heidi because her big floppy ears reminded me of Heidi's braids, I guess Pippi could work for the same reason if you had a carmelly coloured basset hound.

My mom's Shih Tzu is named Maddie. :) Pippi is cute. Thanks!
