Re: Yeah, what is that about?
I think this has question has come up before and we are all baffled. At least I am! I'm not aware of a celebrity who's used it. I don't really get the appeal for it as a boy's name either, although that makes more sense. I'm inclined to say people who use it perhaps don't realise that it's a masculine word (obviously weren't paying attention in French lessons). And the word beau meaning boyfriend is fairly archaic these days, but who knows?Pie pointed out there are 25 girls named Bow and 24 called Boe which I guess could be miss-spellings. I had a friend on Facebook with a stepson called Beau and I used to see some people referring to him Bow in comments. In addition there is also Bo (40 uses), Beaux (21), Daisy-Beau (6), Beau-Lily (4), Bella-Beau (4), Lilly-Beau (3) and my new favourite, Pixie-Beau which three people decided was the best name in the whole world for their daughter!
