Re: Thoughts on short list of boy names?
I live in Germany, so some of these names are quite familiar to me, and some are considered very old-fashioned here.Carsten - I like it, prefer Karsten though
Korbinian - This is quite popular in the part of Germany that I live in, I think it's a great name
Thiemo - I prefer Timo. I also like the similar Tielo / Thilo
Egon - don't like it
Emmerich - it's ok, I prefer this spelling to Emeric
Kayetan - I like it
Kasimir - Like it, I also like Casimir
Lanzo - don't like it
Marzell - Marcel / Marcell is a lot more popular here now. I'm not a fan of either.
Torben - I prefer the similar Torsten
Waldemar - Not really used here anymore, but it's not bad
Knut - Better on a polar bear :)
Rainer - Middle-aged man's name here, I think it's ok

Hooray! I'm glad to see a real live German person giving some feedback! It's very helpful :)I like Karsten too, but thought it had a more shrill, youthful-trendy look to it than Carsten.Thilo is a super cool name, thank you very much for introducing me to it! I like Timo too, but thought it looked rather nickname-y. Thiemo looks more like a complete, full name to me.I'm totally in love with Knut. It's so happy. It really is perfect for a polar bear, or maybe a big yellow dog. So why not a boy? Boys are happy! ;)

I'm actually from the UK, but as a name-nerd one of the things I love about living here is hearing/seeing a lot of unfamiliar and interesting names. I really like a lot of German names :)
