Three Month/Season questions...
My DH is named Julius because his parents already had 8 children and couldn't think of a name, he was born in July. This prompts the folowing:1) Can you use a month or season name if a child is born outside of that particular month or season?2) Do you find all of the following seasons and months usable names at all?Autumn
Spring
Summer
WinterJanuary
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December3) Would you consider using a month as inspiration for a name, instead of the month?
I.e. Octavia instead of October, or Avril instead of April, or Declan instead of December, etc.

Adding....because I've seen several people say that December is unusable. I used to work with a woman named December. So it's not literally unusable.

only figuratively? jk.
I kinda think December is quirky, in the same way Pixie is.

Yes you can use a month/season name outside of that month/season but I don't like that. I find it a bit odd. I suppose a way to get around it would be to use it in the middle name spot and if it had special significance; e.g. little Willow July is born in December but me and her dad are born in July and it is the month we married in.I find Autumn, Summer, Winter, April, May, June, and August useable.
I like: Summer, Winter, May and June. Though June is the only one I would consider as a first name, though I would probably get to it as a nickname from Juno.Yeah, I don't see a problem with using a month as inspiration. That way you might have a Willow Julie instead, whose name is much more useable if she's born in December, but still holds the connection to the special month in question. However I think that the name should have an obvious connection to the month, not just start with the same letter or couple of letters. For example I would be more inclined to use Octavia in honouring of August because it means 8th, and August is the 8th month.

1) Only if the child is born outside the month or season imo. I find it so tacky when a child is named after the month they are born in (apologies to your husband). It's as if no thought went into their name at all.2) I love August on a boy! I also find Autumn, Summer, April, May and June usable. Winter and July maybe as MNs.3) Not really, I like the names I like and I wouldn't name my child after the month they were born in.

1) Yes definitely, if fact I don't think I would use a month name if the child was born IN that month2) All season names are totally usable except Spring, imo. I've never heard it in real life but I've heard all the others.January- maybe thanks to January Jones, you'd have to be bold though
February- nope
March- nope
April- of course, it's already used a lot
May- ditto
June- ditto
July- no, but it's variations work
August- yes
September- no
October- no
November- no
December- no3) Hmmm no. Not that those names aren't nice but I would only consider a month name because I like the way it sounds not because of the month, so I wouldn't use a name because it was a variation on a month.

1) Can you use a month or season name if a child is born outside of that particular month or season?
I see no reason why you couldn't.2) Do you find all of the following seasons and months usable names at all?Autumn- Completely usable, and I like it quite a bit. It's also my favorite season.
Spring- Less usable, but it's been done.
Summer- Usable, slightly dated, but still kind of pretty.
Winter- Usable, though I personally just find this name to be alright.January- I think it's usable. There's January Jones the actress, and it can easily be shortened to Jan, which is completely legitimate.
February- I don't think it's usable, but it is a guilty pleasure for me.
March- Sort of usable? It would be a tad unusual though.
April- Completely usable. Dated, though.
May- Usable, and quite pretty. It seems vintage as well, which is nice in my opinion.
June- Usable, another retro name that I quite enjoy.
July- Sort of usable, again like March it would be odd.
August- Usable. Nice name.
September- I think it's unusable.
October- Ditto.
November- Kind of usable. It's hard to imagine a person with this name though.
December- Unusable.3) Would you consider using a month as inspiration for a name, instead of the month?
I.e. Octavia instead of October, or Avril instead of April, or Declan instead of December, etc.
If I wanted to name my child specifically for the month, I'd probably just use the actual name of the month.

The ONLY ones usable are:
AUTUMN, SUMMER AND WINTER. Spring just doesn't work at all
April, may/mae and june: the rest of the may months are silly

I think that it's fine to use a month or season name for a child born outside that month or season.I think that Autumn, Spring, Summer, and Winter are all usable. I like Summer and Winter, but dislike Autumn and Spring.I think that all month names are usable except February and March. I like January, May (but like Mae more), June, July, September, October, November, and December for girls. I think August is usable for a boy, but I don't like it. I don't like April for a girl. That's the most popular month name of all, but I don't like it.Sure, I'd consider using a month as an inspiration. A girl named Octavia born in October is adorable.

The first thing I want to say is that Julius is a n awesome name. Now, on to your questions:1. Absolutely you can name your kids a month or season if your kids weren't born during it! Why can't you? Some people might think it a little strange but so what?2. All the season names you listed are usable. Spring is the most unusual but I think most people would appreciate it.Of your months, April, May, June, July, and August are fine, obviously. The other names function best if they have nicknames. January could be called Jani.
Feb would be kind of a cute nn for February. So would Bru or Ary.
March is a little strange but it could work for a boy. I prefer it as a mn, however.
A boy named September could be called Sep or even Tem, I suppose. Everyone would try to call Tem Tim, though. Temmi is possible on a girl but everyone would call her Tammy at first.
I heard of a novel featuring a girl named October. Tobi is the obvious nn. October would be fine on a boy, as well.
Little November could be called Nova though I loathe that name.
December is a really tough one. Dessie is the only nn I can think of.

1) Yes. I actually find it a little weird to use the name of a month when the child is born in that month. So a May born in September is less weird to me than a May born in May. 2) Do you find all of the following seasons and months usable names at all?I think Autumn and Summer are perfectly usable, although a bit dated and insubstantial. I'd consider January (for a boy), April (similar feelings to Autumn and Summer), May, June, and August all usable as names. 3) Yes, that is kind of cool. I wouldn't really consider Avril "inspired" by April, it's just April in French.

1. My grandmother was due to be born in June so her parents were set on that name. She came early in May, but they called her June anyway. I don't think it really matters at all, especially with the more common month names.2. I think Autumn, Summer, January, April, May, June, (and September and December at a stretch) are all usable. I only really like May and June. I have a soft spot for January but don't think I'd personally ever use it.3. I think using the month as inspiration is a good way to go if you think the month name is unusable - Julia/Julius, Avril and Octavia are good examples.

1) Definitely!2) Do you find all of the following seasons and months usable names at all?All the season are usable- I've seen them all in real life!I think January, February, March, July, October, and December would all be strange. Probably November too, but I've seen it once irl.
3) Would you consider using a month as inspiration for a name, instead of the month?
I.e. Octavia instead of October, or Avril instead of April, or Declan instead of December, etc.Absolutely, I'd be more inclined to do that.

Julius is a nice name, he did okay.:) I think all of the names are usable whenever, but the only ones I like much are April and May.
These are used in Wales, where I'm from:
Haf (summer) - quite common as a middle name
Mai (May) also common as a middle name
Hefin (short version of Mehefin, June)
Medi (September)
I've also seen Ionawr (January) and Gwanwyn (spring) but they're very rare.

December3) Would you consider using a month as inspiration for a name, instead of the month?
I.e. Octavia instead of October, or Avril instead of April, or Declan instead of December, etc.Could consider it but I probably wouldn't do that. I mean I think me and my boyfriend could come up with more names we really loved without needing the prompt!!

1. Autumn and Summer I like. Winter I don't like at all, and Spring is even worse. It hasn't ever seen as much use as the other three, probably for the same reason Fall hasn't.
May is okay for a middle name, I guess, kind of blah. April and June are very pretty. The others, I guess they can all be used as first names but that doesn't mean they should.
2. It's pretty common for people to be given month or season names that they weren't born in. I would kind of draw the line and say that if you're going for a themed combo, you should do that in the appropriate season/month. My cousin is Holly Noelle and she has a birthday right around Xmastime. Either of those names is completely unremarkable any time of the year, but together they scream Xmas. You wouldn't put your Xmas tree up in July.
3. I wouldn't bother trying to work a name out of a month or season just to have a name that references the season.

Haha. My twin sister is named Holly-Noel. My name is Heidi-Joy... and yes, we were born around Christmas.

Yes, you don't have ti be born in April to be named that. In fact, I think it's cheesy if you are.
I think Autumn, Summer, Winter, April, May, June, August, October and November works as names. November nn Nova is actually a GP of mine. I personally wouldn't use a month as inspiration.
