Re: Honest reactions to my favorites?
Anne or Susannah "Annie" (which do you like more?) I guess Susannah, just because it's more interesting. Anne is nice, but mainly for a middle name. Suzanne I like much better than Susannah, which seems both hillbily and posh. Annie seems a terrible way of knocking Susannah into downmarket territory.
Louisa: Don't like, too stiff and Victorian. Louise is cute.
Eliza: Servant name.
Sally (or Sarah "Sally" - which do you like more?) Sally is cute in a middle-aged cheerful kind of way. Sarah is so boring and pasty and vapid not even Sally can save it. Just name her Sally and skip the messy middle step.
Virginia: It's got a minimum level of attractiveness that saves it from being a completely grandma name.Alfred: Prissy, stuffy, ugly.
Arthur: Ditto, with the added drawback that it seems to be all the rage in certain narrow hipster circles.
Edwin: One of the worst of the ed names.
William: Can't go wrong.
James: Also can't go wrong. Unlike William, James works quite well without a nn.

Suzanne is growing on me. I just hate Suzie!Edwin isn't my fave really, but it's after my dad. Poor guy gets called Edwina an awful lot though :)

Suzanne! You don't need Suzie, you can go straight to Sue. Suzanne called Sue. That was the name of my supervisor 15 years ago. She was Sue professionally, and only the most familiar people would ever call her Suzanne. Nobody would have called her Suzie - they'd sound stupid. She made a great impression on me, a very energetic and shrewd and funny person, so I really like the name.
