One of my fav names. Immediately shot down by the hubs, but I planned to use Mintie as the nickname (possibly Minta).

Minty would be pretty inevitable.Araminta, in my view, looks exactly like what it is - a not very convincing fake antique.

I think it's nice. Minty, on the other way, sounds like a horse to me.

Araminta is *kind of* usable, but I would never want to be called Minty, ever. Ara would be better, IMO.

I love Araminta, one of my absolute favourites. But I prefer nn Minta. Though Minty is ok.

I like it. It's quirky and fun.

The "mint" syllable is what keeps me from liking Araminta. Despite not liking it, I don't think the full name is ridiculous, but the nickname Minty is.

The look and sound are nice, but Minty is just too much toothpaste and money imagery for me.

I love its whimsical fustiness. Minty is an adorable nickname!

I like it. I don't know about Minty, though.

I think it's ridiculous. It sounds like a mouthwash or a breath mint, and Minty *is* a mouthwash or breath mint.

I completely agree with you. Btw, I don't think your comment is rude at all, just an honest opinion.

That was one of the rudest things I've seen on this site. Please think before you post.

Don't care about her, she always writes things like that.

Yes, she does, and that's why I love her posts. I recently made an OP in which I asked for opinions on my A-Z names. It was my list, so obviously I at least like all of the names, and some of them I love. Roxstar responded with detailed opinions on all of the names, and most of them she gave negative opinions on that were just as colorful as her opinion on Araminta nn Minty. I thought her post was awesome and I said so at the time. Because it was honest and entertaining. And do I think that any name that I happen to love, there is nobody out there who hates it? No, I don't think that because I'm not an idiot.Sometimes I think that this board is a little too nice, that sometimes people hold back from saying what they really think for fear of offense, especially when it comes to the name of a poster's newborn relative or friend's child. I want to see an entirely honest board, and if someone like RoxStar can be both honest and colorful and entertaining, so much the better. I don't want this to be like some kind of mommies' message board where somebody says, "I named my beautiful baby boy Nazipenis" and everyone else says "Ooohhhh cuuuuteeee" because they don't want to piss off their fellow mommy. To sum it up and repeat RoxStar, don't ask for an opinion if you're not ready to hear anything that comes your way.Oh, and don't take it personally , because if you are going to do that, then this is not the place for you.

I agree. Her candor is refreshing in a sea of "It's not my style" and "I don't care for it." Also, Nazipenis is hilarious.

I like Rox Star's posts too and always read her responses. I don't think that saying Araminta sounds like a mouth wash is that rude either.

Why do people care so much? Is their day going to be ruined because Rox hates a name they like? Who GAF?

It may come as a surprise but some people are sensitive. They can't help it. They are born with something called High Sensitivity.
There's no use doing things worse by being overly rude.
Internet has really made the ways to hurt people and get away with it innumerable.

the Internet ...Has also made it a lot easier fo the "high sensitivity" people to find things to decide to be hurt about. Such people should not frequent places where honest opinions are asked for and given if they cannot handle hearing such opinions ... especially when those opinions aren't even asked for by them.

THAT'S one of the rudest things you've ever read? All right, then.
vote up2
if you can't take an opinion...Don't ask for one. That simple.
vote up2
It really wasn't that rude - it's just a strong opinion.
vote up2
I didn't think it was a strong opinion. It's just what comes to RoxStar's mind when she saw the nn. It's what comes to my mind too. I'd prefer Ara, Minnie or Min as a nn to Araminta.

Oh, I love Araminta. I always have, ever since I was a kid and read it in M. M. Kaye's "The Ordinary Princess" (the titular princess was Amethyst Alexandra Augusta Araminta Adelaide Aurelia Anne). I'd use Min as a usual nickname and Minty occasionally. There's absolutely no way on earth that my wife would let me use it, so it'll probably get used in a novel eventually.

To be honest; it sounds like a name of a ship

I like Araminta, but prefer the nn Ara to Minty. Minty sounds like a horse.

I love it. It is definitely refreshing (and not to mention minty fresh lol).
vote up2
That's actually not bad. Kind of cute. I'm starting to like different names like that.
vote up2
Love it! Only with the nickname Minnie, or perhaps even Minta, rather than Minty, which is too... "minty fresh" and I feel takes away from Araminta's elegant, old time charm.Araminta Poppy Jane "Minnie" is on my list :)
