I think definitely you can honour people like that :)
For the second middle name you could use the initial of their last name - I really like that idea! - or you could use something else. Either'd work I think.

I read this response last night, so I've had time to mull it over, and I must say - January is fabulous! I'd never considered it for a boy before. Such a shame my #1 is August!

January for a boy is the top of my guilty pleasures. In a book called "Heaven Eyes" one of the main characters is a boy named January Carr. I'm glad you like it!!
But yeahh, you couldn't have January and August in the same set.
August is okay but I don't like it much cos it makes me think of Augustus which I think is really ugly :|
