What's with all the silent Hs in names lately?
Is if just me or has anyone else seen a few names that have Hs in them for no actual reason.. Some I've come across...Khyla
Rydha
Meghan
Teghan ( I actually do like this one)
Rhylee also Rhiley
Rhegan
Kaylah
Breht
Cassie...girlfriend to Cameron and mum to Hayley Anne, Skye Louise, Nathan James and Blake Robert

I don't often see random Hs stuffed into the middle of names IRL, and I'm grateful. Most of these are hideous. To my dismay, I have spotted an increase in Hs tacked onto the end of -a names for no real reason--Annah, Norah, Elenah, Laurah, Joshuah, etc. Meghan is one spelling variant I really do like, but it's the exception.

Norah is legit.H

How do you mean? I've always thought Norah was just a variant of Nora, so I consider it as legit as other common spelling variants such as Meghan and Alysha. My comment was less a jibe at Norah's legitimacy and more about me not liking the H at the end of a name that can go without. (And yet I have a Noah...)Not bickering, I'm curious now if there's something about Norah's etymology that I don't know.

I just wouldn't put Norah in the same category as the likes of "Annah, Elenah, Laurah and Joshuah"I've never seen ANYONE use those spellings but there are many many instances of Norah being used. Not to say that those names don't happened or haven't happened with those spellings, but Norah has a pretty long history of use so it just doesn't seem right to compare themI mean Norah has it's own hyperlink, the others are no where close

It's been going on here for years. I hate it, especially if it doesn't make sense, like Filiph. Seriously, Filiph! And I've seen it more than once.

Yes, I've seen Rhian (g), Khia, and Rhiley
I have no words really; other than it's foolish

Just to clarify. The Rhian I've encountered was not really a reference to the legit name, but rather, an attempt to feminize Ryan

So unnecessary. I've also recently came across a Rhyan. This is a girl whose mother told me her name meant little princess. *facepalm*

Was Teghan pronounced like Meghan or like Teagan? Yeah, I agree that the Hs are weird and annoying. Breht is crazy-pants, man!

I've seen Dianah, Mariah, Lindah and Vinoliah. No doubt on the analogy of Hannah, Deborah and Rebekah. Or, in the case of Vinoliah, perhaps a bid to make it more human and less soapy.

Meghan written like that actually is legit.
Teghan's the only other one that looks okay -__- When I see them the extra H means aspiration to me so I put it in there and then people look at me weirdly. I have a Rhiley as a student and it took me forever to stop aspirating after the R xD

I'm pretty sure Meghan is an attempt to make Megan look more Irish even though it's actually a Welsh name.

I haven't noticed any names like this, they are pretty bad, especially Rydha and Breht.

I dont know
All of those names look butchered to be quite honest

Probably just trying to make the names "unique" and different.Unfortunately it likely just makes things more difficult for the child.

This must be an Australian thing cause I've never seen any of these spellings aside from Meghan. Yikes, though. They're not great, are they?
