Madelaine
How would you pronounce Madelaine? Would you pronounce it the same way as Madeleine or would you say something like Mad-uh-Lane? Just wondering because I've never seen this spelling before.

I've seen it in old birth records - it's just a variant spelling of Madeleine and is pronounced the same way in French, mad len.

Based on this spelling, I'd pronounce it as if Elaine were mad.

I would have pronounced it that same and assumed it was just an odd choice of spelling.

If I saw that, I would assume that the parents wanted a Mad-eh-lane pronunciation.

I'd say mad-uh-lane. It's not the same as Madeleine, which I pronounce Mad-uh-lin.

It's my aunt's name, with this exact spelling. We live in Sweden, and pronounce it just like Madeleine.

+Oops, that was to be mad-eh-lin

I'd say it like mad-eh-lane, so a bit different from Madeleine (which I say mad-eh-line, not mad-eh-lin)
