Indah - dislike India; dislike Indah much more.
Blossom - where I live, it's margarine.
Delora - Dolores has the advantage of accuracy. This looks like the 'fashionable' prefix De- plus a spelling error for Laura.
Petunia - in the garden, fine; otherwise, no.
Faye - not bad; better without the -e.
Hazel - my friends had a dog named Hazel because she was such a nut. Enough said.
Meadow - bizarre. Why not Field or Yard?
Harmony - more a slogan than a name, though I might be biased, being tone-deaf.
Sommer vs. Summer - neither. But if necessary, Summer. Where I live, Sommer means 'just' or 'somewhat' or, as a reply to 'Why did you do that?', 'No reason - I just did'.
Lorraine - very dated; prefer the timeless Laura.
Belphoebe - desperately pretentious.
Naomi - where I live, it's nah-OO-uhme. Unattractive. NAYome is fine.
Jade - like Jane with a head cold. One of the less pleasing jewel names.
Merit vs. Marit - neither, really. Merit looks like an exam result, and Marit looks incomplete, as if it had moulted its g.
Patience - not the trendiest of virtues, and anything that shortens to Pat has got dreariness built in. There was a ghastly poet (for want of a better word) in the UK called Patience Strong who published sub-religious inspirational rhymes in housewives' magazines. One was about ironing as a metaphor for creating order from chaos.

Indah - It looks too much (to me) like it wants to be India (a GP of mine) without being the name of an actual country.Blossom - Absolutely not! That is all.Delora - I find this mildly better than Dolores, though not as pleasant as the simpler Laura.Petunia - See my comment for "Blossom."Faye - Very pretty and understated, and it suits both girls and women.Hazel - Retro-cool and rather hipster-y, but not a name I'd likely use in real life.Meadow - A real GP of mine; I like the combo Meadow Imogen.Harmony - It's not objectionable, but I've never liked the sound (somewhat ironic, given the definition of the name).Sommer vs. Summer - Summer, absolutely; though it's still a bit of a "hippie" name to me.Lorraine - I *should* like this name, since I tend to like names that start with 'L' and end with 'n', but I've always found Lorraine to be very harsh. I actually find Lorena (pronounced the Spanish way) much more pleasing.Belphoebe - I think this name is a little too ostentatious to be used in real life. Phoebe is pleasant enough (though I find the repeated 'ee' sounds too child-like to picture on a grown woman).Naomi - I love Naomi, I really do. It's an Old Testament name that didn't become overused after the Protestant Reformation, yet it's still recognizable enough that it wouldn't be deemed too "exotic" on a little girl today. I also admire the writer Naomi Wolf, so there's that.Jade - I know a lot of people who don't like this name, but I do. A lot. It's probably my favorite gem name.Merit vs. Marit - Merit seems more like a full name to me (in this case, a virtue name), and Marit a nickname. (I once knew a Marit whose real name was Meredith - honestly, I prefer her full name to the nickname.) I wouldn't use either one, though.Patience - The only virtue name I would use in real life. I like both the sound and the sentiment behind the name. I definitely would want my daughter to have the patience that I regrettably lack. :-)Pleasance - See my comment for "Harmony." Except this one sounds less like a person's real name.

Indah: It's so beautiful! I love it.
Blossom: A fairy, to me.
Delora: Reminds me of Delores, which I automatically hate.
Petunia: Also automatically hate.
Faye: I've always loved this.
Hazel: LOVE. It's so cute, yet it ages well.
Meadow: This is sweet, but has never been a favorite.
Harmony: I don't like this name.
Sommer vs. Summer: I'd pick Summer, if I had to, though I'd never use either way.
Lorraine: I don't know why I don't like this name. I just...don't.
Belphoebe: Wow, that's a lot. I don't like it, it sounds rather Biblical and looong.
Naomi: I do like Naomi. It's a favorite.
Jade: Also a favorite.
Merit vs. Marit: Merit. Nickname Merry!
Patience: Enh. I hate it.
Pleasance: EVEN WORSE.
Bree: I love this. It's so cute!
Emerald: A lovely name.
Leda: I don't like this one either. Which is weird, because I like Lena...

Indah - Never heard of it. I like the sound of India and Indigo, so it does appeal to me.
Blossom - Lame-o cheeseballs! :)
Delora - Much nicer than Delores. I don't mind it
Petunia - The name of the Pig on Loony Tunes? Nope.
Faye - I was just thinking about this one this morning. I know a Faye who is an artist, so it strikes me as really artsy-craftsy-creative somehow. I don't love it, but I feel like it could come back with Hazel and Evelyn and Paige.
Hazel - Like this one.
Meadow - Meh, too cheesy feeling, like it just belongs in poems
Harmony - I can't handle all these words. Stop it. :)
Sommer vs. Summer - More words, but I don't mind Summer.
Lorraine - Dated
Belphoebe - Looks/sounds silly to me
Naomi - Beautiful and way underused
Jade - tacky
Merit vs. Marit - no
Patience -no
Pleasance - no
Bree - Like it. Especially as a middle name or as a nickname for Gabrielle or Brielle
Emerald - tacky
Leda - LAY-dah or LEE-da? Valiant - on a story character, sure. Real life, no.

Indah could be quite pretty. I mean, if I'm saying it right, and if BtN's guide is right on how it's said. It's just not for me, though.
Blossom - eugh. Twee and yet somehow gross. It's very word-y, and it makes me think of 'bosom' and it has a not great sound and look and a really cutesy imagery. Not my style at all.
Delora - better than Delores, not that that's saying much. Makes me think of cars and lunch-ladies.
Petunia - has a petulant sound. Makes me think of Hyacinth Bucket, if any UK BtNers remember that show. A shame, because petunia flowers are quite pretty and deserve a nicer sounding name.
Hazel. I hate Hazel. I mean, it would be cute for a bunny or something, but it's twee on a human, and I have very bad impressions from Hazels in my life. They're either dishevelled, stinking of B.O and a sandwich, two plates and an army of ants short of a picnic, or they're malicious and old-fashioned. In any case, they're always brainlessly incompetent.
Meadow - not a name in my books.
Harmony is very 90s. It makes me think of cotton braids and fake tattoos and boy bands.
I hate both Summer and Sommer. Summer looks better, but I still don't like it. Weirdly, I think Leto (Russian for 'summer') is really cute in a GP way. I used to joke that if I had triplet girls, they might end up being Vesna, Leto and Zima (Spring, Summer and Winter).
Lorraine isn't bad, but it's not my kind of name at all.
Belphoebe is interesting, but perhaps a little too odd. I dislike Phoebe, so Belphoebe doesn't really appeal to me.

Indah: Get Indah groove. Looks and sounds like a mistake. India is nice.
Blossom: Good name for a milk cow and nothing else.
Delora: It's better than Dolores, but still isn't great. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned DeLorean on here yet.
Petunia: Pig name. Or Harry Potter's evil aunt.
Faye: Okay, especially for a middle name.
Hazel: Okay but kind of old-ladyish and Hollywood hipster.
Meadow: Where Blossom grazes. Or the girl on the Sopranos.
Harmony: Never liked it.
Sommer vs. Summer: Summer is much better, and I like it.
Lorraine: Okay for a middle name. It's my mother's name.
Belphoebe: it's a jumble.
Naomi: Nice.
Jade: Kind of tacky but not terrible. I like Jada better.
Merit vs. Marit: Don't like at all.
Patience: Pompous.
Pleasance: Ditto only worse. I'd like to see a pair of twins called Pleasance and Nuisance.
Bree: It's all right as a nn for Brianna or Sabrina.
Emerald: Too much.
Leda: Don't like.
Bonus: Valiant on a boy
No. Reminds me of the old-fashioned car, or the washed-up detective in Roger Rabbit.
