Joan as either first or middle name?
Any supporters or opponents of Joan?

Sorry, I think it's quite boring. :/ I prefer Jenna, June, Juno, Janine, or Jeanette (but NOT Janet or Joanne)-

Supporter!!!Use to not like it but now I think it's just so cool and fresh and would be ahead of her time today. Love Joanie

I adore Joan as a first name! It's so sleek and historically rich and subtly brazen.

supporter, but only superficially. I like that the name is short, sweet and recognizable. However, I haven't met a lot of Joans that I like (which is weird, since they are all older ladies). I can see it working today, though I prefer the equally dusty Jill.

I like Joan, but not enough to use. It's got a brisk medieval energy about it that I like, but it's still so very 1930s. Middle name, therefore. Philippa Joan or Cecily Joan, to keep the Middle Ages alive.Joan or Joanna ... Joanna ironically is more modern, but it tends to shorten to Jo, which is a pity. Joanne is a flabby no-no.

I'm going to go with opponent. It rhymes with moan and so it sounds whiny and bland to me. I prefer the also simple Jane. Or I'd even prefer Jean, which I do not like at all. Sorry =(
