name opinions???
I have a few names that I'm planning on maybe using in a story, and I just want some opinions on them. Do you like them? what images/etc do they make you think of? how would you picture someone with that name? :Ajay (m)
Sienna (f)
Elisabeth (f)
Nat (m)

Ajay - I would say ay-jay, like the letters. I don't like it, because of that. I'd rather use an A and a J name and call him AJ.
Sienna - Meh, I find it super uninteresting. Like it was almost cool once, but not quite. It's trying too hard.
Elisabeth - Nice, classic. I like variants better (Lise, Elise, Eliza, Lisbeth) but Elisabeth is nice enough.
Nat - For a full name? Terrible. I'm thinking of 'gnat' the whole time. I would assume it was a nickname for Nathaniel, but I still don't like it.

Ajay - He is the loose jeans, cotton tshirt type, with a beard that is just a bit too unkempt, glasses and a penchant for starting a conversation with a joke. When shaven, he looks quite handsome, but has no idea. Smart, but more bookish than factual. He doesn't seek out crazy situations, but could probably handle one if thrown into it. Sienna - Tall, blonde and freckes. High cheekbones and the look of a model, but is niave enough not to know she is pretty. Can have a mean streak, but this stems from being an only child and being used to getting her own way. When she tries, she is quite kind though and the person that you love to be friends with because she attracts so many people and listens when you talk, but secretly are sometimes jealous of her opportunities and flawless face. Elisabeth - She says she has red hair, but it's really more brown with a red undertone. Kind, and considerate... but want to correct people on their history, grammer and science facts. She doesn't want to be mean, but feels that it would be worse if people went around believing the wrong things. Occasionally becomes polically or socially active as an advocate, but isn't married to any one cause. He is pretty and gets attention from guys, but not as much as her freinds. She is socially capable, and you could call her normal, but not niave. Success is important to her, be that in life or work. Nat - Tall and tan, he's wildly popular because he is so charismatic. For all his charm, he grew up pretty religious, so he sometimes take a step back in situation, wondering whether he should even be there. He grew up a chubby kid, so his personality is humble and self-depreciating. He takes pride in the fact that he is toned and healthy now, and that lends to his charm as a confident guy. Attracted to the beauties in every group, he goes on a lot of dates - but gets along well with women who are quieter and bookish like his sisters.

Ajay (m): I don't like this one, it looks like a different spelling or a variant of AJ.
Sienna (f): Sienna is ok.
Elisabeth (f): a bit boring, but nice with an original nickname.
Nat (m): I like Nat, though it sounds like nickname to me. But I have no problems with it being used as a full name.

I like the name Nat, a lot. It's cute. It's really cute. I also like the name Sienna. If these names are calling out to you, it doesn't really matter what we think. You should use them.To answer your questions though, Image/Person-Wise:Ajay: Ajay makes me think of a jock. The "jay" part of the name is probably why I picture a young, dark-haired guy's guy wearing a smirk and a blue sport's coat with equal pride. The name Ajay just makes me think that this guy is egotistical and morally questionable, particularly when it comes to teenage, rebellious antics. Sienna: This name always makes me think of a gorgeous Hispanic girl. Always. I think long black hair, dark eyes, shapely body, and a sassy, passionate attitude.Elisabeth: I picture a thin, blonde woman that lives in the country on a farm full of chickens. Seriously, I get the whole braided pigtails, patched overalls, straw hat, and "farmer's daughter" personality. I think it's the Beth part of the name that does it for me.Nat: This one is my favorite. Maybe it's because of the image that comes to mind. I think of a quick-witted, somewhat eccentric guy. I feel like he'd be part of a fringe culture. Personally, because I adore goths and all that they truly are, I image a shaggy haired guy in a band t-shirt, tight black pants, and black shoes with colored laces. I feel like he'd be sarcastic but well-meaning and empathetic. Basically Nat makes me think of someone that's doing their best to be whoever Nat wants to be, but has his arms open to accept people for the way they are too.
I hope that helps. I'm sure you have your own images and associations for these characters so I think you should just roll with it. Best of luck!
