I think Esme is gorgeous. I actually saw on the news last night an old lady named Esme, which made me smile.

I really like Esme (and Esmée). It makes me think of bejeweled sorceress.

I love the name Esme. It's short, sweet, stylish, and maybe a little bit trendy. But what do trends matter when you love a name?

Sounds like phlegm.

Esme is new on my radar too! I really like it, but I never know how I "should" pronounce it; ez-mee or ez-may. I end up with something in between.

I like Esme a lot. Always have. I had a marvellous school teacher who went by Esme though her name was actually some thing else, Esther I think; and DH had an aunt whose mn was Esme after someone in the family. It's very dated where I live, so probably better suited to the mn position.Emrys and Esme would stop the traffic!

Love it. This is also one of my top names.

I like it a lot. I love the versatility, a little French, perhaps British, and a unisex history behind it, although I consider it very feminine (and it's gone almost completely to the girls by now). Esme Marguerite, Esme Aurelia, and Esme Clementine are some of my current favorite combos for it. It also makes a great MN for longer FNs.

I have just never cared for the name myself. It is a little to trendy, even considering the history behind it. I don't think it well befits a little girl or an adult. But then again my dislike of the name may b furthered by personal experience. It rather sounds like a villain or mastermind in my opinion. Still, I do not hate the name....It really depends on the personality of the name bearer.

Make sure you use the accent. Esmé or Esmée, not Esme. Love it as long as you do that.

I was going to use an accent but I did a lot of research of the name, here in the US the accent tends to confuse people with the pronunciation even though it should seem simple enough. We are still considering using one, but as of right now we are more on the side of not.
