Thoughts??
We are expecting in February, and for a girl, we are thinking Olivia Vail. Thoughts on this name? Is it hard to say or a tongue-twister??

I juest recently learned the name Vail. I think some celebrity used it (possibly a talk-show host, since my Mom is the one who discovered it.)Anyway - I ADORE Vail. I only wish I had thought of it before everyone. Olivia actually pairs with it very nicely and it is not too much of a tongue twister for me. It sounds so complete though, like Vail is the last name. So, I wonder if it would sound off-kilter with your last name tacked on the end. Olivia itself is a bit too trendy for me, but I truly appreciate your combo anyway.

There are a lot of shared letters/sounds in there, but they would only twist tongues if the names were consistently used together, as if they were Mary-Ann or Betty Lou.If you're concerned, you could spell Vail 'Vale'. But I imagine Vail must have some special meaning for you.

Olivia Vail sounds pretty decent. The L and V sounds are close to a lot, but still in the realm of pleasantly echo-y. The names themselves...Olivia is okay but entirely uninteresting. Does popularity bother you?Vail is unique. I've never heard it as a name. And it sounds exactly the same as the word 'veil' which is a bit of a strange word to use as a name.

Olivia is a fine name and Olivia Vail is not too much of tongue-twister, but do please try to come up with something less popular and trendy than Olivia. Just take a look at its popularity statistics. Do you want to be one of the sheep? You will look like you have not one whit of originality or imagination if you use this name. People say it doesn't really happen that there are five kids in one class with the same name. Well, right now at my workplace there are no fewer than five women named Brittany. Oh surprise Brittany was a top ten name twenty to twenty-five years ago. Do you want your Olivia to be one of five at her workplace?

Well, it's a bit heavy on the l and v sounds close together, but but not the same way as say, Viola Lavesque might be. It's not as though you're going to call her Olivia Vail all the time, right? Just when she's in trouble.
Olivia is a nice enough name, but has a slithery quality to it that I don't care for. And be warned, if you care about such things, she is very likely to be just one of several Olivias in her school.

Olivia is nice. Vail is different. Not really found of it as a name though. Reminds me of wedding vail or a vail a woman might ware to a funeral

That would be a veil... though they sound the same. Vale and Vail are French names I believe, and have to do with valleys. However, vail is also an English word that mean to honor someone with the tip of your hat. You know, when you remove your hat because it would be disrespectful to keep it on (used to be like for cowboys when ladies came on by). It's pretty archaic, but legit.
