Thoughts on the name Emerance?
Emerance was my great grandmother's name, and I believe it's an alternate spelling of Emerence, which is of French origin and means "worthy of merit". What do you think of it as a first name? As a middle name? Would you use it? Which names would it pair well with?Jennifer

It makes me think of the United Arab Emirates because Emirates and Emerance sound veeeery similar to me.

I think it's beautiful, but I tend to like names with Em and Am, apparently.
I think it would fit with a short middle name, such as Grace, Fern, Lark or Rose.

I don't like the alternate spelling ... I think Emerence looks namier. Emerance reminds me of romance. I like Emerentia more, and also Meret, which might be related. Emerance would be a nice middle name. As a first name it would be so liable to become Emmy, I'd not consider it.

? I think it sounds nice with a first name that ends in -n.

I've never heard of it, but it looks/sounds to me like a common noun, but one that doesn't actually exist. Like eminence or something, but different.
I wouldn't use it.
