I've only ever heard it pronounced Muh-kai-uh, and I like that pronunciation. Your pronunciation of it? Not so much.

My pronunciation is the one on this site. Yours, not so much.

Actually, I have heard this name used IRL, and the pronunciation was as LMS stated. Which doesn't mean it is correct - only that it is an accenptable and used way of saying the name. basically - validated. I checked the pronunciation listed on BtN and it seems to be a mixture of the one LMS suggested (and I did too, in my post above) and the one you prefer. Even if the name is said My-kay-uh... I think that the rule of vowels in English might alter the natural pronunciation for English-speakers to start the name with ME or MIH, instead of MY. Confusing at first - but a simple correction would help people out if this were a real child's name.

agree ...The only time I ever encountered this name in real life is on a girl who goes to school with my daughter. It's spelled differently, I can't remember just how, but maybe Makaiah. It's pronounced Ma-KY-a, with a pretty much neutral first vowel sound. She has a twin named Mikayla.

I'm trying hard not to judge that twinset... Also, Micaiah is a little prettier than Mikaiah imo, though.
