Friends' new baby

My friend just had a baby and they named her Johanna Noelle. They are pronouncing Johanna in the German way: yo-HAHN-ah. The little 6-pound cutie joins big brother Caleb Benjamin.What do you think? I totally love it! And I get so excited when people name their baby something I love. :)Three boys nappin', one mama namenerdin'

I love Johanna Noelle.
Caleb Benjamin is ok. I wouldn't use a middle name that starts with the last letter of the first name.

I like both names, however, I'd worry that Johanna with the German pronunciation would be frequently butchered. Do the parents live in an area with German roots? I'm also not wild about how JohaNNA NOelle runs together. Too many ns for my taste. Still, Johanna is lovely.

Yeah, the N thing is a bit much, but I think it's better than is the emphasis in Noelle was on the first syllable. Like Johanna Nolan or something. At first I wasn't sure, but now I don't even mind them together.The father has German roots, but the area is not German.

I think the yo-HAHN-ah pronunciation is going to prove to be a pain in the butt and she's going to end up being called what sounds like Joanna. I don't think people will even throw the H in there. There are worse names than Joanna. It's not terrible.

We actually have a lot of immigrants in our city. So there is already a smorgasbord of names and pronunciations. She will definitely get called Joanna sometimes, but I think people will figure it out.

If they're not German-speakers, Yo-Ha-na seems pretty pretentious. Really like Noelle but it doesn't sound so great with Johanna. Yo-no.

The dad and his family do speak German. And while we are in Canada, this city has a TON of immigrants, so it's not likely to stand out to terribly.

Johanna is such a pretty name. Noelle I'm not as fond of, but the two do sound good together. I also love the way Johanna and Caleb sound together-they fit, but they're not obnoxiously matchy sibling names.

I really like the sound of Johanna Noelle. I also like both names on their own, particularly Johanna being spelled yo-HAH-nah.
It is a classy, but nonetheless current combo!It also matches somehow with Caleb Benjamin, although I find the boys name much less pretty than hers.
I'm no fan of either name, but I'm always fine with Benjamin as a middle name. With Caleb I don't have very many good connotations. It sounds rather blunt for me.
I might have chose Cale instead, but this wouldn't have made much sense with Johanna neither. Alexander, Benedict, Elias, Felix, Jacob, Nicholas or Raphael would have made more sense.

I really like both Johanna and Noelle. Personally I wouldn't have paired the two of them together, but the combo is okay and much more interesting than Caleb Benjamin.

I love Johanna when it's said that way! It's a hundred times better than Joanna (jo-anna) could ever be. Though I will always prefer Ioana, I think I'm biased ;)Noelle is nice too, though the thing that stops me from loving the combo is the "na-no" sound you get with the end of Johanna and the start of Noelle when you say them together.So I'm rating it about an 8/10 :)

I would agree with your 'concern' if Noelle had the emphasis on the first syllable. Like say, Johanna Nolan or something. But for me it works because the emphasis is on the Elle. But an 8/10 is pretty good!
