Re: looking at alternative spellings
I usually prefer the spelling that is commonly used. Everything else usually makes it really hard for the child later in life. But of course, I understand that there are some spellings that aren't as popular but you still want to use (this applies to me as well).Abigail
Adriana
Ainsley
Alana
Alea/Alia - I love Alia, but Alea is nice, too!
Alicia
Allison
Alissa - not really a fan of y-names
Amy/Amie - Amie is interesting, but needs getting used to
Anna/Ana - Hard to tell... I probably prefer Ana but I always think of a sickly, frail girl when I hear it
Annabel - not a fan of -belle names
Ariel - can only imagine this name on a boy
Ashleigh - really tough to decide because I really detest this name
Audrey - Audrie looks interesting, but I think it's too much of a made up name
Bailee - not a fan of this name either, but since Bailey is a no-go I choose Bailee
Beatrice
Bethany
Bianca
Blaire
Brenna
Briana
Caitlin
Callie
Callista/Calista - I like them equally well
Carissa/Carisa - hard to decide... Carisa is not as boring as Carlissa
Carlie
Caroline
Cassidy
Claire - I like Clare, too, but it always feels like an "i" is missing...
Colene
Daisy/Daisie - since I really detest Daisy, the -ie version makes it a little better, although it needs getting used to
Dana
Daniela
Dinah
Edith/Edyth - again, since I'm no fan of Edith, Edyth improves it somehow
Eleanor/Elinor - love both names equally well!! Elinor is probably the more recent version and Eleanor more classic
Elise
Elizabeth
Emily - What about Emilie?
Emma/Ema - I somehow like Ema, but it is pronounced way differently, isn't it?
Gabriela
Giorgia - absolutely detest Georgia, therefore Giorgia is a little change
Hailey/Haley - can't decide
Hanna
Harmonie - again, one of those names I detest
Heidi
Holly
Isabel
Isabella - this is probably the only time when I accept -bella
Jamie
Kailey/Kailee
Kayla
Kenzie
Kimberly
Kylie
Lainey
Leah/Lia - I like them both a lot
Leanne
Leila
Loraine
Makenzie
Madeline
Malia
Marnie/Marni - I really can't decide
Mollie - although it needs getting used to
Natalie
Nicole
Olivia
Rachel/Rachael - Rachael looks much more interesting, but I see problems in its spelling
Rebecca
Riley - not a girls name for me
Roxana
Ryann - again, not really a girls name in my opinion. I would have chosen Ryanne
Sabrina
Sara
Savanna
Shanna
Skye
Sofia
Sydney/Sydnie - detest Sydney, but Sydnie on the other hand looks just wrong
Tabitha
Taryn
Teresa
Valerie
Virginia
Wendy
