Re: Opinions on these girls names
Adelaide - two d sounds plus laid makes it a no-no
Aitana - never seen it before
Alba - ancient Scotland? Really?
Alva - people are right to have dropped Alvin from their naming stock; this is if anything worse
Cassia - better than Cinnamon but still not good
Della - very dated; not exciting but not objectionable
Elowen - too literary. Eloise is much better
Elva - I prefer Elvira, and that's saying something
Freya - Friar? Frayer? Impractical, but it looks pretty
Ginevra - don't like gin; don't like the HP character; prefer Jennifer or Virginia
Gretel - prefer Greta or even Gretchen
Keeva - Oirish spelling is a problem, but Keeva looks unattractive
Laurel - prefer Daphne or - better still - Laura
Lorelai - why not Lorelei if you must commemorate a cannibal mermaid?
Luella - looks as if an o has fallen out; prefer Louanne but not enough to use
Maisie - lovely for domestic animals
Milena - not used where I live; prefer Marina
Nina - neat and tidy and pretty enough to use
Perla - awful; sounds like a 1950s coffee bar. Pearl is bad enough without an extra syllable
Raya - oh dear, what happened to Rachael?
Tilly - charming nn for Matilda, but not a solo name
