I think Millie is too insubstantial as a fn. There are so many other options that are more substantial - even Milla nn Millie would be better, imo.As for the mns, I don't really understand the hyphenate. Why not just Millie Anna Rose and Thomas John David?

Milla looks weird makes me think Mills has been miss-spelled. The hyphen is there because my boyfriend wants another hyphened fn like me and our dd. So the hyphened middle was a compromise. Where I live nns as Fns are very common

Millie Anna-Rose is very sweet, I like it. Thomas John-David is very classic in sound, so it will age well. All the best with the delivery and can't wait to hear the announcement of your new arrival!

Thank you :-). I will be sure to announce it. I'm due today but I can't see any signs of him/her wanting to come yet. Another November baby I think.

I like all names, but I don't like the sound of the girl combo. There's no flow at all. The boys combo flow though. But yeah, all names are nice. And it's not that often you have to say your entire name, so it's not a big deal. Good luck!

How exciting! What matter most is that you and your significant other are convinced. ...But since you asked...Millie - Love it as a nickname. Really dislike it as a full name. I would way rather see
Emily nn Millie
Camille nn Millie (I think Camille is different enough than Camilla to be used in the UK)
Emilia nn Millie (Emilia is close to Amy, but better than Amy and Amelia)
Emiliana nn Millie
Jamila nn Millie
Milena nn Millie
Millicent nn Millie
Romilda nn Millie (or Romy)
Anna-Rose is fine. Uninteresting, but perfectly okay.Thomas John-David. Hm. It's okay. Kind of strong and handsome, but doesn't like to be the centre of attention. For what it's worth, I don't hate the hyphenated middle names.

I have been considering Emily nn Millie it's just so popular. Camille - I have said this but he just thinks of the royal family men a. I love Emilia but he's not keen on names not spelt properly I suggested it with DD but he said Amelia or nothing. Emiliana is just weird to me I just think of Emilia and Anna smushed together. Milena and Romilda would be out as they are not simple enough and he has never heard of them before. Jamila I just think of the singer Jamelia. Millicent I love but he says sounds like a old lady.

agreeI also don't like Millie as a given name... It's just too cutesy. Romilly nn Millie
Milan nn Millie
Mila nn Millie
Emmeline nn MillieYou described Thomas John-David perfectly :)
Personally, I think it flows a bit better as Thomas David John. But, like you said, if they are convinced that all that matters really.

Emmeline I'v tried before and was a no. I don't like place names so Milan is out plus that's my dentist name and he's a man. Mila I don't like seems incomplete to me. My boyfriend wouldn't go for it as he's never heard of it either. Romilly I love but not vintage enough to go with Amy. I am considering Emily nn Millie though. Thomas John-David is because I like the nn TJ.

I love Romilly and Amy together. There's something really awesome in the sound of sisters Amy-Louise and Romilly. Fair enough with Milan and Mila.
Milan is a guy's name but so many girls are running around with guys names at the moment that I thought I'd mention it. I know three people called Mila so it's probably a country thing.Emily nn Millie would be great together too. I've liked Emily ever since I read the Emily of New Moon books.Ohh, that makes sense. TJ is a great nn :)

C'mon, Amy-Louise and Romilly would totally rock!!

To me they feel like 2 totally different styles. I know my boyfriend won't go for it though I think I suggested it before and he nixed it straight away.
vote up1
Aw, okay. Can't help loving Amy-Louise and Romilly though :)

I know me too names like Romilly and Rowena are more my style but as my boyfriend is a 80s baby he has more vintage/70/80s taste in names. I'm considering Emily nn Millie at the moment.

Thomas is okay but Millie is so sickly-cutesy it makes my teeth hurt. Especially so with Amy as a sister. And though Anna Rose is a nice combo as a middle name, paired with Millie as a first name it's just over the top sappy.

Millie is after my great grandmother Emily - Millie is the only name my boyfriend would use he doesn't like any name that gives you the nn Millie.

I prefer Millie as a nickname, maybe for Emily? Amy and Emily would be quite sweet together. Anna and Rose are both lovely, but I do prefer them without the hyphen. Thomas is great, and I like John and David a lot too. I personally would also prefer them without the hyphen (I know hyphenated names are quite popular in the UK at the moment though).

I love the name Emily as that's what Millie is after, I'd just be concerned that Amy & Emily would get confused together. Hyphens have been popular in the UK for a while since the 90s.

Re: Amy and Emily, my nieces are Aimee and Emily. They're sisters and it's no big deal. I'll admit that to my immediate family (we live in a different city), we do trip over the names a bit, but again, it's not that important since we don't see each other too often.Have you considered Emilia, nn Millie? It would be easier (imo) to say with Amy yet you'd still be able to arrive at the nn your bf likes.

Amy goes by Amy-Lou or Amy Lou-Lou (if you call her Amy most of the time She says no I'm Amy Lou-Lou or I'm Amy-Louise) most of the time so Amy-Lou and Millie wouldn't be too bad. I'm not sure if he'd go for it I had it on my list with Amy and I got what's that name. When I told him it was a variation of Amelia he said why don't you just spell it Amelia if that's what it's supposed to be Emilia looks weird.

I agree that Millie would feel too much like a nick name for me to love as a given name. I get that Amelia is too close to Amy, but what about Matilda or Camilla or Camille nn Millie? I love your boy name though. Strong and classic, you can't go wrong with a combo like that.

I'm English so Millie as a given name is in the top 100 names. My aunts cat is called is called Matilda so that's out. Camille/Camilla he won't use as there's a member of the English royal family called Camilla.

Millie Anna-Rose: Is Millie short for anything? Seems a little cutesy and nicknamey for a first name. Maybe Amelia? Millie isn't something that ages well. Anna-Rose isn't bad, especially if it's honoring. I'd get rid of the hyphen though. Seems unnecessary. Thomas John-David: Thomas is a strong first name. I like it. John-David suffers from blandness paired it Thomas, but again it's honoring so they are solid names. And I'd get rid of the hyphen.

I can't use Amelia is too close to my DD's Name. - Millie is to honor my Great Grandmother Emily, DD is honoring my boyfriends Grandmother's MN May and both kind of Honor my other Great Grandmother Amelia.I'm English so NN's as FN's are more popular over here. The Hyphen is also popular over here because My Name and DD's have a Hyphen, my boyfriend wanted another Hyphen so having it in the Middle was a compromise.

Amelia would be interesting, since both Amy and Millie are nicknames for it. I like Millie and you don't meet very many these days - so I think it matches well with the simple Amy. I like the final choices, as they seem to go with her style (of the first child)... but I totally agree with getting rid of the hyphens. Much classier without.

Amy & Millie are both after Family members Amelia, Emily & May. The only Milly I know is about 70/80 and lives in the Village where my parents do. Millie in US - #598 - 2013. - Milly No Ranking in US.
Millie in UK - #26 - 2012 (Nothing for 2013) - Milly in UK - #341 - 2012 (Nothing for 2013).

Wow didn't realize how popular Millie is in the UK.I like Millie but I feel Amy and Millie are a bit too similar as siblings.Of course I feel that my top two girls names Serafina and Fiona are too similar so I wouldn't ever use both of them. I guess when I have children I'd like to have their names be quite different. It always seemed weird to me that my mother has siblings named Joan and John. But I like how Amy and Millie honor both of your family members.Edited to add: Also here is one suggestion you've already honored Amelia and May with Amy what about something like Lily to honor Emily or Calla - Lily or Tillie or Dillie or Gilly / Gillie or Jilly / Jillie. Or something else that ends in -ily or -illie. Or I've considered honoring family members by choosing names that remind me of their favorite things or honor their middle names or maiden names or surnames. Also after reading that you mostly call Amy-Louise, Amy-Lou instead of Amy I guess Millie isn't too similar for my tastes.

Yes a lot of nns as first names are very popular in the UK. I'v heard a lot of people say they think Amy & Milly are too close but I don't really understand how ? Amy - Ay-Mee & Millie - Mill-Lee. I like Lily but I can't see myself using Lily as that is very popular in the UK also. - I love Lilian but my boyfriend doesn't like it. - plus I'm not keen on using Lily as a first name with Rose as a mn. Tillie I can't use that reminds me of my aunts cat also called Tillie. - Gilly/Jilly - he wouldn't go for as it's too close to his bosses name Ginny. - I kinda like Dillie but not sure what would be a name to get Dillie as a nn. Only thing is Lavender which is my Nan's fave flower but I can't see myself using it. - this is the trouble going back in my family most of them have no middle names and all the last names are stuff that can't be used like Self, Hunt, Clark etc. -

AYM-ee MILL-eeI personally prefer Millie to Emily. Also as I said Amy and Millie would be too similar for me to use but I know they aren't that similar. I just would like my childrens names to be very distinct from each others in sound and spelling. In spelling Amy and Millie are not too similar but in sound they are too similar for my tastes. But I think you should go for Millie since it is honoring and you both like it.Lark or Clara could be honoring for Clark. Dillie could be a nn for Dilys, Dilwen, Daffodil, and Dillon / Dylan. I doubt any of those are both your style and your boyfriends. You could also try something like Diana-Emily nn Dilly / Dillie. Also I love Lavender but it would be too much with Rose as a mn.My mom's favorite flowers are Bougainvillea, Lobelia, Geranium, and Petunia. She also likes Lavender. I would consider Lobelia or Lavender for a mn for one of my future children but never the others.

I pronounce them slightly different to you Ay-MEE & Mill-LEE.Amy hardly ever gets called Amy she normally get's called Amy-Lou or Amy Lou-Lou (her choice). - I love those names as my family are originally from Wales. I doubt my boyfriend would go for them though too out there for him (except Dylan but I refuse to use it as people have used it on girls). - I like Diana-Emily. - I can hear my boyfriends reply I'm not using that she would be named after princess Diana :/. Also like it cause my Aunts MN is Dianne which I'd love to use but then her sister would get Jealous I haven't used her name so I can't use it.I know that's what I was thinking about Lavender & Rose. I think we will wait and see if we think Emily or Millie is better when the baby is born (If its a girl obviously).
