Redundant name
There is a tragic story in the news about a little girl who has gone missing in Michigan. That, obviously, is the worst part of the story. However, I would like to propose a second terrible part of the story. Her name is Brooklyn Lynn (last name is Lilly). Redundancy, much?

Wow. Sounds like a name from a nursery rhyme especially with the surname.

That's... pretty bad. And especially with the last name being Lilly.

It's so undisputably bad. But it does make me genuinely wonder what kind of conversation and thought went into naming. It can't have just been an accident, so why did the parents think it was a good idea?

Speaking of redundant...I just came across a Charlie-Lee. A girl. I actually prefer Brooklyn Lynn, but they're both good examples of what you shouldn't name your kid.

I was thinking about posting this. Did the parents not realize there was already a -Lyn in Brooklyn?

I don't like it. It is redundant for sure.

Apparently she's been found safe.I had a friend whose oldest daughter's name was the same as their surname except with the addition of an A at the end. It's a short, one-syllable surname. The first syllable of the oldest daughter's name was spelled differently from the surname but sounded the same. Also the sound of the last syllable of her second daughter's name was identical to the sound of the surname. There, I hope I explained that clearly enough while protecting their privacy!Anyway, there was an excuse for the first daughter. She was not the biological child of my friend's husband, and she was born before their marriage. After the marriage, she began using his surname, though I am not clear on whether or not he ever legally adopted her. So when she was born she had a different surname, and the fact that the first syllable of her name sounded identical to his last name was a coincidence. No excuse for the second daughter. They should have caught that.I don't approve of Brooklyn Lynn. I doubt many will.

Years ago I remember hearing on the radio, maybe it was paul Harvey? this political candidate in the US, Minnesota, I think? Her name was Monica Monica. And her middle name was also Monica. Apparently that was her actual given legal name.
Major Major major, meet Monica Monica Monica.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. Like Kimberly Lee, which I've seen a time or two. Hers is a mouthful of l's for sure, especially with that last name.
