51 Girls named Griselda...
According to the US national data for the Social Security Index of 2013, 51 girls were named Griselda last year. Thoughts? Comments?
I just love the SS database for wonderful facts like this. Will edit later if I find any other great tidbits (just looking at names for less than 60 girls today). EDIT:
21 girls were named Cleopatra!
20 girls were named Elowyn :) (19 Ellowyn)
9 girls names Knoelle.... I assume a silent K here.
5 girls named Pennylane :)______________________________________________

As a gray haired battle maiden myself, I'm thrilled with this news. :0)It seems as though Zelda is on the rise, however humbly. So it isn't that out of the realm of possibility that Griselda could rise as well. A bear can hope . . . .

I adore Griselda but can't convince my DH to ever use it so it will have to remain a fantasy. Glad to see it being used though!

It sounds like the name of a Disney villain.

I actually like the name quite well. I have a friend named Griselda in her early twenties. She is Mexican, and I wonder about the predominant ethnicity of the girls given this name.Said friend completely changed how I saw the name. Instead of ugly and old it just seems fanciful. Her nickname is "Gris" which sounds a bit too close to grease for my taste. Anyway, I'm happy to see Griselda in such use.

Most girls named Griselda seem to be Hispanic. It's used here in Brazil too, though not that often.

My first thought was that I wanted to bitch about my name being used for fewer girls than Griselda has been, because God knows though my name is way out of style, it's also way better than Griselda. But turns out that my name was given to 189 babies in 2012, so assuming that didn't change much in 2013, it's three times the number of babies named Griselda. Assuming the person who left the comment under my name stating this knows what's s/he's talking about. So I don't get to bitch. But Griselda is awful.

A bit of Googling seems to show that Griselda is mainly used by Hispanics in the US today. I have to say it's ugly ugly ugly.
