If you were naming a real girl right now ...
What would it be with first and middle names? Not a guilty pleasure or fantasy name, but a real, livable English spoken name. Please put it in your subject line. :-)- mirfak

Lena Sally IreneLena is a family name and it is one of my favorites right now. Middle names honor both of my deceased grandmothers.

Pandora Valencia FaeIt might sound like a guilty pleasure, but it really isn't. Pandora's been my favourite girl's name for a few years now, and I'd actually use it.

Evelyn PatriciaMy grandmother's and mother's names, respectively. If boyfriend nixed the first name, because I know Evelyn isn't everyone's cup of tea, I'd go with Mary Evelyn instead.

So pretty. I also think Lilia is beautiful.

Gwen BeverlyI'm not really sold on the combo, but Gwen feels the most realistic atm and Beverly is my grandma's name. Jane-Emily is a close second. NN "Jem" and/or "Janie"
vote up1
Gwen Beverly is adorable and feisty. I love it!

Maple Cecilia Joy "Mae"Unless my girlfriend had a say, then she'd be Tamsin Patricia Joy/Adele.
vote up1
Oh my god! I'm in love. You know it's so weird but I've never considered Maple as a name before but I've considered almost every other tree name. I now realize that I really love it for a girl, it's kind of like Mabel only even cuter and lovelier.I also like Tamsin but I much prefer Maple. Plus I just love the combo Maple Cecilia Joy. Mae also works nicely as a nn.I may have to consider Maple a possible mn for a future daughter. Maybe a fn but I doubt it would be my husbands style since he doesn't like Hazel. He does like Rowan though so I'll see. I'm uncertain how much I love Maple - it's hard to judge how much that I like it and how much I like that it's new. I'll have to play around with it in my head for awhile.

What a happy name! I love it. Though, I like Tamsin too. Not a huge fan of Patricia, but I like Patrice. Tamsin Patrice Adele would be cute... but I like Maple Cecilia Joy better.

Vera Sophia LarkVera Sophia Lark makes me smile. I prefer shorter, less complex names for actual use. Both Vera and Sophia are relatively familiar on an international scale which is a plus. Lark is simple, sweet, and not too cute to be taken seriously.

Romilly Fern (I know, crazy right?)You all thought I was going to say Mattea Plum. :) 99 times out of 100 you'd be right, but this week I'm branching out. Go me!
vote up1
Not crazy at all! What a sweet combo. I love it.
vote up1
Ooh, nice! Romilly Fern and Mattea Plum would make darling sisters. Loving these!
vote up1
I really like it!
vote up1
Actually, that's quite appealing. Nice!!
vote up1
Nice one! I adore the name Fern, but sadly my DH does not. Personally I would prefer Milly Fern, but that's just me.
vote up1
Yeah that threw me for a second.I love Mattea for you, but I also love Romilly Fern :)
vote up1
Ugh, I love both! They are both so lively and beautiful.

Vivian AlanaVivian because it means life, and Alana after the main character of the Lioness Rampant series by Tamora Pierce.

Freda Rose.
vote up1
How great is that? a little Freda running around. Yay!Freda is a family name for me. When I was young and acting out my mother would always say, "Just like Freda!" which was supposed to be a put-down. My Aunt Freda was a 60s wild-child. It just sounded like "freedom" to me so I've loved the name all my life. My aunt was named after her aunt, Frederica (called Freda). I hope you get to use Freda Rose one day. :0)
vote up1
I love Freda! I prefer it spelled Frida or Freida.
vote up1
Rose MarjorieThough I really, really want to use Caledonia.

Leona MaryIt's the feast day of Pope St. Leo the Great, hence Leona.Aaaaand, as a Catholic I pretty much celebrate Mary every day, so MARY.

Husbands choice: Victoria Grace. Mine: Grace Victoria Kay...This is our debate right now for our baby girl to arrive any day now:)
vote up1
Lucy Alice EdenI have loved the name Lucy for so long and Alice is a family name used a couple of times and I love it too and Eden I have loved since I was a child and both times we've been pregnant it was on the list for a girl.
vote up1
Love Lucy Alice :) Lucy has been my favourite name since I first read the Chronicles of Narnia when I was 4. I named my first doll that, and always wanted to use it for a real baby girl, but then my mum used it for her cat :/
vote up1
Lucy Alice is rather adorable. The Narnia connection is one of the reasons I love the name, because the Lucy character was always my favourite of the children, as she was the one who discovered Narnia and had faith it was real even though she was told otherwise. I also love the show "I love Lucy", but ultimately I just think it's a gorgeous name.
vote up1
Magdalena BarbaraBarbara honors my grandmother.

Matilda CatherineIt makes me happy.

Great combo, although I would personally prefer Matilda Katherine or Matilda Kate.

I also like Matilda Frances maybe equally.

Fiona MarianOr maybe Fiona Mariella or Fiona Marietta or Fiona Maeve or Fiona Elanor / Eleanor or Fiona Dorothy or Fiona Dorothea or Fiona Marguerite or Fiona Autumn or Fiona Cicely.Probably our first daughter will have the mn Marian because she was the grandparent I was the closest to and we are going to honor Arthur with a son or daughter which is the grandparent that my husband was closest to. Our mothers, my great grandma Ella and his grandma Dorothy are also people we want to honor. Ella's mn was Dorothea and I prefer Dorothea to Ella or Dorothy. Then if we had a second daughter probably Artemis with one of these different honoring middle names listed but not Elanor / Eleanor or Autumn with Artemis unless we used double mn's. I think we'd probably go with Artemis Dorothea. So Fiona Marian and Artemis Dorothea if we have two daughters. I have no idea what we'd name a third daughter because we have a much harder time agreeing on girls names but we'd probably use Elanor / Eleanor, Marguerite, Autumn, Cicely, or Luna as a mn.

Edith Eleanor Clara, I think...nn Edie most of the time.I'm also loving Greta a lot at the moment.Margaret Emily Constance "Greta"And Harriet.Harriet Mae Annora "Hattie"

Can you just make them sisters?Because that would be a gorgeous sisterset. Every one of those combos is just picture perfect.

Ashley Dawn, or ...Christina Lauren or Stephanie Maria.

Ooh Christina Lauren is so smooth and classy.

Ashley Dawn is pretty, but I think Christina Lauren is my favorite.

Mara DoloresI am really loving Dolores right now, but I'm not sure how much a young girl would like being called Dolores (or even Dolly, or Lola), so I came up with this sexy-sounding combo. I quite like it.
vote up1
My second cousin Mara has a two-year-old daughter named Dolores!
vote up1
No way! That's an awesome coincidence!
vote up1
They're both considered Marian names here and Mara wanted to continue the family tradition. During pregnancy their short list was Marija, Maja, Nives and Dolores.
vote up1
I don't find Mara Dolores sexy, so much as alluring. I'm a big fan.
vote up1
Thanks! You're right, "alluring" is a good word for it. Like a siren, drawing people in to ultimately destroy them.
vote up1
I like this combo a lot. Lolly also works as a nn. Or maybe Molly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
vote up1
Thanks! Hmm Molly is an intriguing idea...
vote up1
heehee Bitter Sorrows, how Goth is that. They do sound pretty good together though! eta - and I know someone who just named her daughter Dolores. So far she's Lola, which is quite popular here.

Patience DaffodilNothing to see here
vote up1
This is a truly adorable combo. It's a bit cute but the mn is what makes it so cute when combined with the fn but most people won't hear the mn so I don't think it's too cute for use.

Eve Rosemarie.
vote up1
Asha CalantheThough my boyfriend wouldn't agree with the mn. He really doesn't like Calanthe :(Asha Calanthe would be a sibling with Leo Alexander and two girls who are kinda undecided.

Romilly Josephine MaudeMaude being a family name. I'd also ponder Romilly Georgiana Maude, or Romilly Violet Maude.
vote up1
I totally love this combination; it flows so well! I honestly don't care for Romilly Georgiana Maude... I just don't like how all three names have the same "aw" sound. Romilly Violet Maude is nice, but I just love Romilly Josephine Maude so much! No matter which you'd end up using, it's nice that Maude is a family name!
vote up1
Thank you :) Romilly doesn't have an "aw" sound to me, though.
vote up1
Melanie Petra
vote up1
Daphne Hilda or Theodora WinifredHusband is obsessed with Theo for either gender.
vote up1
Utterly adorable, especially Daphne Hilda. :0)
vote up1
Thankyou :)I know Hilda is very unpopular here, but I really love it now. I used to hate it (it's my grandmothers name) but its so unusual and lovely old grandma name ;) right up our alley!
vote up1
Do you ever read / watch and of the "Rumpole of the Bailey" stories? The author recently came out with "The Penge Bungalow Murders" which I listened to when driving. In it he recounts a young Horace meeting and getting engaged to a young Hilda. Despite her She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed status in later life, young Hilda was a real credit to him. It's so sweet. I'm rambling. Anyway, how else are we supposed to get to the fabulous nn Hildy if not through Hilda? Has anyone here at BtN ever thought of that? Hmmmm?
vote up1
No I haven't read or watched those stories before. I also adore the nickname Hildy, it would be really nice if we ended up using it as a FN because my grandmother doesn't go by a nickname, just Hilda, so it would be nice to differ the two people :)
vote up1
Jordan Rachael or Gracie Margaret

Xanthe Opal EstherI know I know, you're all super shocked right now ;)Middle names after each of my Grandmas, plus Opal is the national gemstone of Australia.
vote up1
Emilia Hazel or Felicity Emilia. As much as I love my go-to, favorite name of Lauren Elizabeth, I've been absolutely loving Emilia lately.
vote up1
Susannah Maude "Annie." Maybe. But gah, I dunno, mirfak. Maybe Susannah Wilder, but I'm not putting that in the subject line or someone will get on my case for appropriating random last names. Maybe Susannah Lark. Maybe Anne Louisa nn Annie. Maybe Louisa Caroline. Maybe Jane Susannah.
vote up1
Susannah Wilder sounds sort of heroic. And Southern belle as hell.Something funny is, people are all wishy washy on girl names here. The answers in rem's boy thread are pretty firm and clear but so many of us have 2 or 3 "maybe" girl names. I personally don't have a girl name at all.
vote up1
I like Susannah Wilder. It has spunk. I love Jane Susannah.
vote up1
Leah Frances:)
vote up1
Louisa Blythe
vote up1
Very nice!
vote up1
Eleanor Lark nn NellUgh this was so hard for me because I have a list of combos that I ADORE for girls. If not Eleanor Lark, probably Ruby Winifred or Charlotte Pearl. Or Edith Wren. I have a hard time putting them in order, haha. Eleanor gets first slot because I love Nell as a nickname though.

This message was edited 11/10/2014, 10:55 AM

vote up1
Eleanor Lark nn Nell is adorable! Two thumbs up. Actually, all 4 of your combos are gorgeous. Not normally a fan of Winifred or Edith but I love them in those pairings. I think you should just have quadruplet girls and use them all ;)
vote up1
Oh, I love all of these! I wouldn't be able to decide a favorite either!
vote up1
Thanks! Never had any other combos (besides Ruby Winifred) before playing with my PNL a little. I love them all so much, I have a hard time picking!
vote up1
I love Eleanor Lark nn Nell!I love your other combos, especially Ruby Winifred.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you!! Although I can't really rank them from favorite to least favorite but I love Ruby Winifred for an entirely different reason. It seems so mismatched and bold. Thanks!

Josephine Khadija I want to like, but there's something about the flow I dislike that I can't quite put my finger on. Caroline Malaika is glorious and stunning.
vote up1
Calanthia HazelNickname Callie. I'm tempted to say Lucy, but it's getting too popular. Hazel is honoring my grandmother.
vote up1
I love this one even though it is a bit plant themed. But I'm one of those people who's like whatever just go for it when you like something and I like this combo.
