Chris/Kris for a girl?
What do you think of the name Chris/Kris as a shortened name for either Christine, Christina, Kristine, Kristina, Kristin, or Kristen? Do you think that she would be teased for having a boy's name by her peers?

I don't think she'd be teased, however, Chris / Kris isn't exactly fresh these days. Have you considered another nn such as Christa / Krista or Kit?

It happens every day. And nothing bad ever happens.

I don't think any teasing would happen, since both Chris and Kris are very common nicknames for girls with the names you mentioned. In fact, another nickname for those names would be more out of the ordinary than Chris/Kris. That said, I do not like Chris-names... there are far too many around and it's not all that pretty to me. I do like Christine, in theory. But, I know at least 20 off the top of my head which makes it a less pretty name to me. Neither of those are strictly boy's names, and in teh realm of nicknames... masculine and feminine rarely matter.

She definitely would not be teased. Chris is a firmly established unisex nickname. However, I am bored to death with all "Chris" names and the nickname itself.

I know plenty of girls called Chris. Most went by Christy or Chrissy when they were younger, but I don't see why a younger girl couldn't go by Chris. I see Chris in the same light as Alex. As a full name, it's more male, but as a nickname it's whatever. She definitely would not be teased.

I absolutely HATE Chris/Kris on a girl. To mean it seems like such a travesty to shorten such lovely names to limp, impersonal, generic "Chris"I really like Christine and Christa- they're so bright and sparkly, sharp but delicate. Chris is all middle-aged woman who has "let herself go" wearing only sweats and scrunchies. Or else a quintessial "Pat" I don't think there's any more teasing potential than there would be with Alex- I just think it's butt ugly

I know. Which is probably why either Chrissy or Christy is more common among younger women nowadays.

It seems to be a pretty common nn for girls as well as boys these days so I thinj it's ok. But I wouldn't like it as a full name.

I don't mind it. I know a few Christine's etc that go by Chris including my mother in law.

Well, it's not all that unusual, though it's very much out of fashion for girls now. It seems to be somewhat less in fashion for boys, too, I've just run across a couple of little boys who are always called Christopher, in the last few years.
But a girl called Chris would still have a high likelihood of having a male Chris in her class and thus the inevitable "boy Chris" and "girl Chris."Besides, I really don't like it for a girl.
