FAVORITES
Girls
Alba - It's refreshing and interesting.
Violet- Sweet, but not overused (yet) like Lily.
Elodie- French & fun to say. :)Boys
Jude- I just like it; strong, but gentle.
Owen- Same as Jude... I'm sensing a trend.
Lachlan- It is just growing on me lately.LEAST FAVORITES
Girls
Quinn- Simply because I prefer it for males.
Geneva- Just not a huge fan.
Rosanna- I just prefer other Rose- names... including Rosa, which is on your list.Boys
Grayson - Seems overly trendy. It cropped up in my area about 5 years ago, and everyone was having a Grayson, Greyson, Grey, Gray, etc.
Harris- Just does nothing for me.
Theo- I prefer Theodore called Theo.

My favorites are Julian, Jude, and Ronan for a boy. Grayson is close 4th. For a girl, I like Violet, Cora, and Phoebe with Eva and Lily close behind. My least favorites are Alba, it just doesn't look nice to me, Quinn is masculine, Elodie just looks and sounds odd to me. I also don't care for Rosanna or Anika. For boys, I don't care for Lachlan as it sounds really harsh to me. Seth, I have bad associations with. I also don't care for Harris or Finley.

GIRLS:
Veronica, Nadia and Anneliese are my favorites for girl (and Juliet almost made it). All are classy, not used that often and have lovely meanings. Veronica is recognizable and spunky. It has some strong imagery as both the bad girl in literature/media, and as the pretty girl. It has the adorable and multi-ethnic nickname Vera ingrained, and it looks pretty and sounds pretty to say. Nadia means hope and I almost used this for our girl (eventually replacing it with Nadine on our list). I think it is short and sweet enough to blend in with modern trends, but not too common or too obscure. It's adorable on a child, but is easily pictured on an adult and it carries class. Anneliese is just crazy awesome. It looks like it should be over-the-top but manages to remain simple. It contains tons of nickname options and has the distinction of being both dusty-old and youthful at the same time. As a name, it is very strong and I would highly reccommend it. My least fav girls are Cora, Quinn and Geneva. All are rather boring and Ho-Hum to me.
- Cora is nick-namey for several lovely longer names (like Corinna, Cordelia, Coralie, Coretta, etc).
- Quinn is just NMS. I have never been fond of it and see it better on boys. I would rather see something like Gwynn or Gwendolyn.
- Geneva. Not bad, but a place name and there are much better G-options out there. Genesis, Eugenia, Imogene, Genevieve, Giselle, Georgina, or Regina would be better options.

I love your descriptions about the ones you like describes how I feel about them exactly. . It's interesting that you see Cora as nicknamey cause I would personally see the full names you've listed as excessive, except for Coralie, that is pretty. I don't think many people in our part of the world worry about Lachlan being culture specific, it's very popular in Australia and I think it's in the top 100 here in NZ. I also love Leland, I took it off my favourites list because it's a bit different and a lot of people didn't like it IRL

I was a huge fan of a TV show called Monk (detective series) and the police Captain was named Leland Stottelmyer (sp?). I though "great name!" back when the show started (maybe 15 years ago)... so I find it totally usable. As for excessive names... yeah, that is kinda my thing. (Leontine, Melisande, Eudora and Camille are our top names for a girl).

I love pretty much all of the boys names. The girls aren't as good, but I still like a lot of them so this will be hard. I have to do 4 of each...
Favorites:
Theo - I adore Theodore, and especially with the nn Theo. I like Theo on it's own as well
Declan
Grayson
Julian
SethJuliet
Lily
Elodie
AlbaHonorable mention: Lachlan & PhoebeLeast favorites:
Harris - See below
Cole - Nothing wrong really, just not a favorite
Soren - Spelled wrong (Sören) and weird outside Sweden
Conrad - Can't picture it on someone younger than 60Anika - because it spelled weird (Annika) and this spelling makes me think of ducks (anka in swedish). Also, I think this name is weird outside Scandinavia/Germany.
Rosanna - too frilly, and just...no.
Quinn - because it's a boys name
Rosa - only suitable for a cow

Favorite girls: Anika (although I like Annika more), Geneva, and Lily
Least favorite girls: Alba (too last namey), Anneliese (too frilly and a mouth full), Esme (sounds like a rash)Special mentions: love Rosanna and Quinn, but only for a middle name. We seem to be in the minority for Quinn love.Favorite Boys: Lachlan, Soren, and Theo.
Least favorite boys: Grayson (too trendy and last namey), Jesse (blah boring) and Seth (so slimy feeling)

Favorites for girls:
Esme, Cora and Lucia, because they sound romantic.
Least favorites: Phoebe, because I find it so unattractive. Quinn because it's more of a surname to me. Anika because it looks misspelled. In Sweden we always spell it Annika (or sometimes Annica).Favorites for boys: Julian, Hugo and Theo because they sound cute.
Least favorites: Owen, because it sounds so "heavy". Declan because it sounds like "declare" (or "the clan"). Grayson because it sounds like gravy.

Top3:
Lucia - this is on my list, I love most "Luce" names.
Annaliese - my sister's favourite name for a future niece of mine, the only downside is I never know how to spell it, or which way is my favourite!
Esme - hasn't made my list yet but it's inching ever closer.
Evan - once upon time this was a top 3 name for me, it's still on my list but has dropped considerably.
Theo - Theodore is on my list, often I change it to Theo but find myself changing it back again. There's nothing wrong with it as a name in it's own right.I couldn't find a third boys name that I liked enough to go on the favourites list.Bottom3:
Quinn - this is on my boy's list, I think it's too short and sharp for a girl.
Anika - Usually I like "Annie" names but this one sounds cold.
Geneva - I'm not a fan of place names for girls, I've been to Geneva, it's very nice but I wouldn't name a child after it.
Jude / Julian - I've grouped these because I dislike the same thing, the initial "Ju" sound.
Hugo - Not a fan of how this sounds either.

3 favourites:Geneva (Top 5 girls name for me. Love th sound, the associations I have ith it and the nn possibilities)
Elodie (because it's one of my top girls names and I love the sound and meaning)
Alba (ditto)Soren (so handsome)
Finley (just pleased to see it on a boys list!)
Theo (spunky)Runners up: Anneliese & Lucia and Seth & Hugo
3 least favourites:Veronica (it just doesn't have an attractive sound at all)
Cora (ditto on the unattractive sound. Makes me think of rotten apple cores)
Violet (violent)Jude (unattractive sound - Jude pooed, Jude the Prude, Crude Jude, Lewd Jude but mainly because Jude is the German word for Jew and I strongly associate it with visiting Auschwitz and other significant places in Europe and everything horrific I saw there and learnt about the holocaust. I wouldn't qant my kids name tied to all of that, personally)
Julian (sounds wimpy and sniveling, I can only picture it on a spoiled, pampered brat)
Grayson (unattractive sound, unattractive colour, too "50 shades of...." and I wouldn't want someone thinking I named my kid after that!)
Runners up: Quinn (all boy to me) & Phoebe (sounds comical and bumbling) and Cole (Coal) & Ronan (not liking the sound at all which is funny because I love Rowan and thats so similar)

My 3 favourites:
Eva
Violet
LuciaJulian
Hugo
RonanLeast favourites:
Quinn - it's a boys name, I don't really see the appeal for a girl
I don't really dislike any of the other girls names, but of them I like Esme, Alba the least.

Harris - Well, it's my surname so I have a pretty hard time seeing it as a name
Grayson - son of gray? It's weird and sounds vaguely feminine, even though I find it even worse on a girl

Favorites:
Claire
Lucia if it's loo-SEE-ah; if it's LOO-sha or loo-CHEE-ah I'd replace it with Eva
Anneliese if it's anna-LEES; if it's said like Annalisa I'd replace it with Lily
(Runner-up: Violet)Evan
Owen
SorenLeast favorites:
Quinn --I just cannot see the appeal of Quinn on a girl. It's such a masculine, abrupt surname. Blech.
Phoebe --I like how this looks but Fee Bee makes me cringe. It's so babyish and cutesy.
Geneva --Convention. Can't get behind it as a name.Grayson --A weird combination of too girly (Grace-en) and too surnamey. Not to mention super trendy and played-out.
Harris --I have a soft spot for Harrison but Harris is so unattractive.
Conrad --Another one I really don't get the appeal of. Con Rad. So ugly.

Favorite Girls:
Eva- Pretty, classic, and easy to spell when she's a little girl starting school.
Esme- I like it despite the "Twilight" associations. It has a ladylike charm.
Geneva- Lovely with a certain old world eleganceLike Least:
Quinn- sounds like a boys name, too masculine. Maybe Quinley, or Quinry.
Alba- okay but sounds a tad old ladyish in a stuffed up way. Alma, Alayna, Alfrida might be a little better.
Anika- For some reason whenever I see this name, I immediately think of Anakin Skywalker. It's probably just me, but I start thinking of future Darth Vader with a gender change. Favorite Boys:
Declan: Really like this name, and it has an interesting history as an Irish saint name. The singer Declan Galbraith was quite good as a kid.
Julian: Nice name with strong historical roots.
Lachlan: Appealing but not too common and has a hint of the mystery of the Scottish Lochs. Like Least:
Soren- Not bad, but am not fond of the sore part. Similar names are Stephen, Septim, Solomon, Sven, Simon, Souma, Solon, Sefton. Seth- Reminds me of "Cold Comfort Farm" and the line,"Highly sexed men on farms are always called Seth or Reuben." Other than that obscure reference, Seth sounds slippery to say like a snake hissing. How about Sean, Seamus, Septemis, Silas, or Silvanus. Cole- Okay, but is a homonym of coal. It sounds a little incomplete as a full name. Maybe it could be a nn for Colton, Coulson, Colwyn.

I find your naming style attractive but our styles are SO INCREDIBLY DIFFERENT. I will do my best, but comparing your names to what I like is like comparing apples and... guava! Girls:
Three Favorites - Claire - I just love this name. I think it's very elegant.
Lucia - I like it a lot more than Lucy. It's not a favorite, but it's appealing.
Anika - again, not a favorite, but a spin on an Anne name, which are my favorite genre of name.

Three Least Favorites: Quinn - I'm sure this is going to be almost every other BTNers least favorite too. Seems contrived, kinda romance novel-esque. Instead of Quinn, I suggest Ginevra. Similar sound with it short "i" and also sort of romantic like the rest of your names.
Alba - Just unattractive. ALLLBBAAAAA - I picture a greasy old woman in a house coat frying chicken in a trailer. Instead I suggest Calla, because it has that same "a" sound but is much softer.
Rosanna - I just do not like Rose, and it upsets me to see it inflicted upon an Anne name. :) Instead I suggest Rosalind, because it's the only Rose name I like! Boys:
Three Favorites -
Conrad - If I try I could like it, I think. It's very strong.
Harris - I usually don't like surname names (openly) but this one is ok. It seems somewhat Victorian, which charms me.
Ronan - I have a sneaking suspicion this is a Lord of the Rings name. Is it? Oh well, it reminds me of Rowan (which, do you like Rowan? It seems like your style.) which I think is a pretty, soft name.

Thanks for the suggestions!I do kind of agree with you about Quinn, I think I would only use it as a middle name. I do like Ginevra but I'm a little concerned I only like it because of Harry Potter. On a related note, I think I only like Alba because of the character in Time Traveller's Wife. That's where I first heard it and it stuck out to me. Calla is pretty, and calla lilies are beautiful. I've never had it on my list because it's too similar to Kelly which I do not like at all. But you may have just convinced me to add it. I have no idea if Ronan is in Lord of the Rings but I believe it's a minor character in Harry Potter though that's not where I first heard it or why I like it. Weirdly enough I can't stand Rowan. I don't like unisex it is (I know have Quinn on here so I can't really talk) but the w in the middle makes it look and sound weak to me. I would like Roman if it weren't for the association of Ancient Romans and people being from Rome. Yeah Cole and Jesse are pretty normal standard names here. I've actually only ever met one Cole in my life so I don't have those associations.

Favorites
Claire it's simple, timeless and beautiful
Lucia reminds me of Saint Lucia's Day, and it it has a pretty, delicate sound
Cora it's short and sweetLeast Favorites
Quinn it's too trendy, surname-y, and unisex. Lynn has a similar ending sound, but it's so dated. Brynn isn't my favorite name, but it's better than Quinn and also has the -inn ending.
Alba on an intellectual level I do like this name, but the l-b-a sound just sounds so ugly to me. Maybe Alia, or Alicia?
Rosanna it sounds poofy. Same with Roseanne. I like Rosemary, though, and if it's the Anna that draws you to it there's stuff like Marianna. Favorites
Hugo I like the -go ending.
Evan nice sound, looks nice written down.
Theo only as a nn for Theodore, but it conveys all the nice parts of Theodore and leaves out the less nice part Least Favorites
Finley no. Bleh. It sounds more like a dog than. Person. Maybe Finn? Finn is nice.
Lachlan I don't understand all the love this name gets. It's ugly and obnoxiously surname-y (I don't always mind surnames as first names, but this one is just too much). Other L boy names could be Leandros and Luther.
Grayson I knew a mean female Grayson and it doesn't seem like a boy's name. It doesn't seem like a girl's name either, honestly. It's not that bad. I prefer Graham, though.

Top 3:Violet - LOVE
Anneliese - love it, & spelled this way!
Eva - I like it pronounced AY-va, not EE-vaHugo - my dog's name!
Finley - nn "Finn" is adorable!
Ronan - I like it but prefer RowanBottom 3:Veronica - sounds very snobby, like Veronica Lodge from the Archie comics :P
Esme - sounds too nasal - not attractive
Phoebe - I don't like the look of the name or how it soundsConrad - just like Veronica, I think it sounds snobby
Soren - don't like the sound of it
Harris - Should only be used as a surname, imo
It's funny - DH & I are considering naming our next child Violet Anneliese if it's a girl :)
