Almost there
We've almost decided how to name our second child, a brother or sister to Myrtle Nola... If it's a girl. Boy names are much harder, but we're working on it. For a girl we're down to two choices:Hester
OliveWhich one do you like best? How about middle names? Or maybe Olive Hester? Hester Olive? Mommy to Myrtle Nola (22-10-2012) and baby due 25-05-2015

Nice to have a plant name to link with big sister Myrtle! But Hester (or Esther) is so much nicer than Olive, which will shorten to Olly, that I'd happily support the Hester Olive idea.

I think Olive will age better of the two. It seems to really work on all levels.

I personally don't like Hester at all, but I love Esther. Esther Olive would be a cute combo and Myrtle and Esther work quite well for sisters. Otherwise I would suggest Olive for the fn.

Bleque to both and especially Hester. Sorry
Weirdly though, I do prefer olive over the two if it MUST be between these two, olive. I don't find Hester attractive or flattering at allEsther. Heather.
Olivia (popular, yes but hey, at least it's not a food item (:

No problem, everyone's entitled to their opinion ;-)
I'd consider Olivia as a middle, but not as a first name. It's way too popular, definitely. And too cute-ish.
Esther is ok, but I hate Heather with a passion.

Hester would be my choice
I tend to steer clear of vowel-starting names as middle names if I envisage teasing potential and in this case I see Hester Olive as perhaps one day, if she married a Mr Thompson and changed her surname, as spelling HOT
How about:
Hester Liv
Hester Vivienne

Liv sounds too modern, I think. I generally don't like -enne names.

YOU MUST CHOOSE HESTER!!!!! If I encountered young girls named Myrtle and Hester, I would probably faint. Hester Olive is so charming.

I think Hester is the perfect choice and Hester Olive is lovely. It also matches well in the sibset and is refreshingly uncommon, yet quirky. Big fan. As for alternative middles:
Hester Golda
Hester Maude
Olive Gladys
Hester Blythe
Hester Eudora
Hester Muriel
Olive Agatha
Olive Elmira
Olive Frances
Hester Oona
Hester Molly
Hester Edith
Olive Francine
Hester Enid
Hester Melba
Olive Aster
Olive Agnes
Hester Wilma
Hester Greer

I prefer Olive, but I think Hester goes better with Myrtle, style wise. They're both good options though. I don't like the combos though. What about something a little more up to date, like... Olive Isabelle or Hester Louise? Or Hester Sophie ?

Hester Louise sounds nice. I always hated Isabelle and Sophie, they're very popular and I don't get what's go great about them.

I think they both work well with Myrtle. I think I prefer Olive. This is mostly because I could see a little girl preferring the name Olive to Hester in this generation. I think it is important for kids to like their names if they can :). However, Olive Hester does make a nice combo.

Both Hester and Oliver would be great sisters for Myrtle. My personal preference between the two is definitely Olive. I don't really live the flow of Olive Hester or Hester Olive though. How about Olive Adelaide, Olive Emmeline, Olive Elspeth...somehow I really want a vowel after Olive.

I like Olive Adelaide.

Awwww Myrtle Nola is soooo cute! Also she's about the same age as my daughter, born just a few weeks earlier. :)Hester isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I think I like Hester Olive better as a combo.
