Avra
What do you think of the name Avra? What about Ara, as a sort of stand alone name instead of the elaborated Arabella?

Avra is sweet and simple and unique. I like it. Would you say AYV-ra or AVV-ra? I think I like AVV-ra better. Ara is okay, but it does feel a little incomplete to me. It could easily be a nickname for something like Aria, Ariadne, Ariella, Ariana, Araceli, Araminta, or Arcadia if you're not a fan of Arabella.

Personally, I would say AVV-ra.

All the Avras I know (are Greek/Greek-American) say it AH-vrah.

I love it! It's weird its usage is mentioned as a "?" cause I'm pretty sure it's a Greek name. All the Avras I know are Greek, including my "aunt" (she was one of my mom's former professors who was just very close to our family). Anyway, it's very pretty and unusual but doesn't feel too out there.I like Ara too, a lot more than I like Arabella.

Avra seems some how incomplete to me. Do not ask me why, because Ara sounds perfectly lovely, haha. Ara seems much more refreshing on its own than as a nickname to Arabella, though the child might like having a fuller name.

Avra is beautiful. It's not a name I was familiar with, but it's a really lovely feminization. I always like v-r transitions. Ara is a bit lacking imo. It feels like a nickname, it needs a bit more. AH-ra would be substantial enough, but when you say stand alone instead of Arabella, I say it similar to the word air with an a on the end. Visually it just seems to short regardless of pronunciation.

Avra seems a bit weird, like there's something missing at the end.
Ara makes me think of a parrot. I don't think it's usable as a stand alone name, I don't even like it as a nickname.

Avra is interesting. I think like it. It's sort of reminding me of Avril, but also words like abracadabra and avadakedavra, so... not sure.
I like Ara, although there might be some AIR-uh vs. AHR-uh confusion (I prefer AHR-uh but I'd be okay with either.)
