If I had been a boy, they would have given me the name my brother ended up with-- Michael Gary, after two deceased uncles.
My mother also considered Jillian, but she said she didn't like the nickname Jill.

Aw, I happen to like Jill. It's retro (now) and simple, but sweet.
Though, I can see how it would have seemed ho hum a generation (or a few) ago.
