Re: What could you have been named?
The names that my parents were considering were:Anita
Rita
Virka
Stasija-Ana (Anastasija broken apart, my mother's creation)Rudi (My father's favourite name)
Virke (This is a unisex name in Estonian)
JohanThese are also the names my parents considered for my brother, but in the end I ended up being named Lia Ellen and my brother Peeter Johannes. They chose Lia because they thought it suited me best and Ellen is for my great grandmother Elfrida who went by Ellie. My brother was named after our great grandfathers both of whom were named Johannes, and the name Peeter comes from the name of the family farm in Estonia.---------------------------------------------PNL: http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/126941

What is Virka/Virke from (or what does it mean)? It's cool!

I do know that in Swedish the word for timber/ wood is virke, but I am unsure if the two are related and I have not found any other meaning for the names.
