29 weeks today & still undecided on a girl's name!
I'm due at the end of February and DH & I have decided not to find out the gender of this baby. We have agreed on Rowan Charles for a boy, but if the baby is a girl, we are still trying to decide between Eloise & Violet. I like Eloise better as a first name because Violet is becoming quite popular - but DH prefers it over Eloise. I suggested using both names - I love the combo Eloise Violet, but it doesn't seem to flow as nicely as Violet Eloise does. Our other mn option for Violet is Anneliese, but then I wouldn't get to use Eloise at all.I would like some opinions as well as some other name suggestions (first & middle!)Thank you! :)Jenn

Violet Eloise is nicer in my opinion, and as a girl, I think I'd prefer my name to be Violet. I always try to think about that, since growing up I had a boy/unisex name which I hated, but is actually becoming popular.Violet Anneliese is nice, too, but I really like the compromise of Violet Eloise.
Rowan Charles is super handsome, too.

Anneliese in all its spellings is getting as popular as Violet, so I don't think you'd score by using it. Anne, however, might work as a second mn. Eloise Violet Anne is really distinctive and rhythmically excellent.

I live in Canada and Anneliese isn't at all popular here. In fact I've never met anyone named this! My middle name is Ann and so is my mother's, so Eloise Violet Ann(e) would be a nice combo.. :) Thanks!

Can't you wait until baby arrives? Then if you do happen to have a girl, you can see if she looks more like a Violet or more like an Eloise and make the decision then. I was never one for waiting until the baby was born to choose a name. I always thought, "You have nine months to choose a name, that's plenty of time"! I ate my words with my last pregnancy because I just couldn't stick to a name. We knew we were having a second DS, so we had two name combos, with a possible third in mind and as soon as we saw our beautiful baby boy, we just knew he was our little Jethro! It takes so much of the stress away, believe me!

I like Violet Eloise or Violet Anneliese. As a first name, I don't think Eloise would age well. It would be cute when she's six, but a 30 year old might have trouble pulling it off. Other names:
Louise
Anastasia
Margaret
Rosalind
Rosalie
Susanna
Samantha
Yuri
Blodwen
Calandra
Hazel
Gwendolyn
Yseult
Yvonne
Amelia

If your only reason for preferring Eloise is because Violet is getting popular, only 0.2% of baby girls were named Violet last year (yes, I did just calculate that). That is, unless you're not in the US...either way, I think you should use the name you like best regardless of popularity! Sometimes names are popular for good reasons! Also, I think it goes nicely with Henry & Sienna. I think of Sienna as a city and Violet as a flower, so the color thing didn't even cross my mind. (btw, I AM rooting for Violet because I like it better than Eloise...haha! But both are nice choices. Good luck!)

Oh, Rowan Charles is so handsome! Good pick.I vote for Eloise.Violet and Sienna are both colours, and they are colours that clash violently. Rust reddish brown and deep purple? No good. I can't think of anything else when I hear the two together.Plus Violet sounds too much like violent for me.Not to mention the charming (not) Violet Beauregaurd from Willy Wonka. So yeah. I think Eloise is perfect. I also like Anneliese, if that's a fn option.Eloise combo ideas:Eloise Ruby

I agree, the two colours do clash, and it kind of bothers me! Actually a few weeks ago I said to my husband, "wouldn't it be kinda weird for two of our kids to have colour names?" but he still likes Sienna & Violet as a sister sibset. Thanks for your combo suggestions! I especially like Eloise Ruby! :)
